Took the old girl out on the 1.9s today just to see what its like to have a not so tiny truck.
Had to crank the preload up a ton to clear the fenders on turns but

OH MY GOD THIS IS WHAT ITS LIKE?!?!
she got over EVERYTHING!

Pretty boring shot here but jeez it was cool seeing it get up and over things I never dreamed of doing.

Even though it's a little harder for certain obstacles, the Goodyear MT/Rs are just so sticky I don't want to go back to big wheels.

I am having a hankerin' for a second wheel & tire set, though - 1.7" Siped RC4WD Boggers (they're pre-siped from the factory") on black steel spokers - or stretched over 1.9" SSD Steel Trails.

For use only with the current "beater" body, as when I paint and assemble my 2nd Chebby body and cage I'm NOT cuttin' the fenders, and my body posts are both cut AND dropped to the point that the bottom of the grille sets on the WertyMade bumper already.

Don't know if they'll tuck under or rub - but, they really are only 0.3" taller - maybe they will work fine?

(I already have one as a spare that I picked up on sale long ago - and they've dropped in price at some online shops)

great googley-moogley those 1.7 TSL's are 4.49?!!
the tires i was on in that pic are only 3.67 (1.55 mud thrasher stretched over 1.9 traxxas bronco wheels) and they feel HUGE.
still trying to see what i can run on a 1.55 that would be right around 3.0 but most tires that size have really aggressive tread and im going for more accuracy to my pops ride and i think the most aggressive thing he ever had was mud T/A. (the old ones). and the 1.55 still has a bit too much sidewall on a 1.55 so when i stretch it over the 1.9 its about right. just the wheel looks too big now. i will most likely stick with the mud thrashers and go back to 1.55 wheels... when i get the new body on ;)

I can't wait to see the body! I just ordered a 3d printer and I might make myself a few bodies! With all your work so far i think that new body is going to turn out great!

i plan on casting a mold and re-pouring in resin. that way i don't worry about heat warping the PLA, also if i break it during my improvements or crack it on the rocks, i don't have to say ouch to the tune of 300 smackers.

And if you break it you can make a new one! Great idea. I don't think that far ahead. It's usually an afterthought and I am like oh man!

I was using the 1.55 mud thrashers on the 1.9 traxxas wheels. New associated (thunder tiger) 1.55 wheels on the left.

MUCH better. I hit the new 1.55 wheels with some matte clear so they aren't so bling bling. Havent glued them yet and that's going to take some finesse. The bead channels on the new wheels are too narrow for the beefy rc4wd tire beads. Hmmm...
Oh and scale hubs are on the way too ;)

And! The new wheels are skinny with less offset. She is just barely class 1 legal now!!!
Best part is: those associated wheels are like $13/pair!

I agree when stretched over the 1.9 there was no room for sidewall flex to conform to rocks.

Might try weights in the wheels too.

Well, if he just does a certain amount, to bring them up to typical aluminum or steelie beadlock weight - shouldn't be an issue...?

Good point...forgot they're plastic wheels. I'll allow it.

Ever heard of wrapping the wheel with solder to weight it? Saw that the other day...
