That sounds like a logical thing to do

Or you could just give them to me...

This past summer my girlfriend and kid were in the basement workshop and decided to count how many RC cars were there. I found myself feeling a bit defensive...

I had the same experience after reclaiming my room by extricating the bunk beds. She's like it looks nice but where did all of those trucks come from?

Yes it's the HPI body. The grill I 3d printed. They have 2 versions on thingiverse. The 1978-1979 and the 73-75

Just not happy with my gearing so I ordered a gear reduction unit. I'm going to need to adjust the trans and everything back about .75". I picked up the 3:1 ratio and that will put it about 55:1 final drive. That should be perfect.

One thing I love about the ascender is how convenient it is to change the skid location and wheel base. I just changed my setup to allow use of the gear reduction.

Assembling the assembly. Going to start with a 55t and hopefully it works because it's the only motor I have that fits in the small motor bearing hole on the gear reduction.

I like the smaller tires. Is that planetary GRU RC4WD, Tamiya or?

It's the rc4wd. It says planetary so you would think it would have a typical spider set up but it doesn't. It only has one center gear and a step gear one side goes to the pinion and one to the center gear. I hope it holds up.

hell yes on the tiny tires.

top one on the stack is what i was running on my tribute ford.
bottom 2 are the barrage 1.9 stockies.
tires on the truck are 4.19 braven iron sides.

im curious about that reducer gear, too. and with a 55T that thing's gonna be a stump puller!

Well she weighs 9.2lbs so I need torque? I might be over doing it with the 55t but it's what I have and I want to see how it works before I decide on a different one. I should have it running tonight. My son and I got side tracked and fired up some old Amiga 500 games I have had since I was a kid. So I didn't get it finished.

Amiga was actually commodore. I have 2 c64 and a 128 also. I have a Amiga 2000 but it's dead.

OK, that's a weak way to produce a gear reduction unit, WTH? Hope it holds up, I'll keep lookin for something that is true planetary GRU.

Gearing is perfect. But I am going to go back to a 35t I think. Speed about the same as a stock ascender on 2s but I'm running 3s. Plenty of power though!
