Well I just put in my order for the GCM TMX axle housing and axle shafts. A while back I found out they use ascender guts, including ascender c hubs. Plus they have leaf spring perches which is pretty awesome. I was going to keep this 4 link but to get the ride height lower I would have to switch to shorter shocks. If I have to do that I might as well run leafs for scale which will make the interior easier to make. I also might make my own motor forward set up. I have a spare motor plate and with tinkering I think I can get the motor aimed forward but I just need to check clearance to the servo. I might just use another GCM trans if it just doesn't seem feasible or just go with the GCM motor forward kit.

If you get the 200x200 table you can get a printer for about $200 on Amazon or eBay. I watched lot's of reviews and unless things have changed recently I would recommend the flsun brand. It doesn't require a fancy computer to run it. I have an old laptop from 2006 that works just fine. If you get into drawing parts with fusion 360 you would need a little better computer. I use a Dell gaming laptop for drawing but that's definitely over kill. I'd check the website for minimum system requirements.

Build on hold. Fried the controller board on the printer. Oh well I was going to get the upgraded one anyway.

Got a package in the mail today. Also got the printer fixed. Then I opened the other package and I forgot to order leaf springs.

Bodies pieces appear to be fitting together nicely. What wheelbase?

I m at 11.5 WB so wb 2. With small tires anything over that and they get hung up more than I would like.

By the beard of ZEUS what have I missed?!!

That thing is AWESOME!!!!
Now I gotta back track for details...

*okay all caught up.
Nice save on the fenders and great catch on the rear side Windows.
For lexan I bought some at hobby lobby they have sheets in various size and thickness. Ironically they have that but not styrene...
As for small tires getting hung up... Wjats your definition of small? Hahaha those look like 1.9 with 4.19 od! Plenty big ;)
Just ribbing ya. Do you have something different in mind eventually? I'm guessing those are just mock up wheels during the build on there now.

Oh oh and congrats on the bowhouse axles!!! Those will eventually go under my 79 ferd someday with spring pocket fronts and radius arms. Gotta get that offset pumpkin for accuracy too.

Really love how this build is going, even if its putting your printer through hell haha
So glad you decided to go leafs. Links would be fine but like you said, room for interior. Plus, its a scout. Just seems right.
And yes, primer, sand, repeat x 1,000 haha
I need to actually get going on mine.
Ditto on having multiple projects. Several irons in the fire!

Cant wait to see what's next!

Getting the front end to look right. I'm not sure how I'm going to get the hood to open. I'm probably going to have to make a beefier radiator support to mount the hinges to.

Oh right they hinge at the front.
Gusset the heck out of the corner between the rad support and fenders. Styrene? Maybe u channel screwed in to keep flex to a minimum?

I havent even considered an opening hood on mine since I dont have a scale drivetrain... Yet?
Maybe I should reconsider.

But yeah cut some triangles from styrene I hear it plays nice with PLA iirc?
*Oh! What kind of glue and putty you using btw?

I am just using automotive putty. I'm using the spot putty with out hardener for ease of use. If I had an abs body I couldn't do that but pla doesn't react to acetone or most paint thinner. Only problem I have ran into is it melts the primer but once it's dry it's fine. Just have to be careful not to peal it off.

I'm using CA medium and insta cure. Also some e6000 on the back for reinforcement.

A few small spots to touch up with putty and a little more sanding and ready for paint. Though I need to print the interior and fit that before I want to start painting. Also I want to make the lenses and and windows and fit those so they are ready after paint.

That thing is awesome. I’ve got to get into 3D printing I guess. Just very computer dumb so I’m hesitant. Can’t wait to see the interior and finished!

Thanks. It can be intimidating but if you have messed with cnc at all it's very easy to get into.

I just taught myself. Watched lot's of YouTube videos and trial and error. I always look at it as if you never fail, you never tried. I might have fried a few things in error but now I know what not to do next time. Also the parts are cheap for the printers which makes failure a little more tolerable lol.

I know what you mean about IT. They think because you are IT you know everything that is computers.
