Your work is amazing!! So how do your trucks compare in performance to a regular RC SCT?

Thanks Mudweaver!! Obviously they're more scale, but as far as on the track I haven't had the chance to try it yet. I'm sure it could compete no doubt, just can't hit any of the big jumps.

New radiator fans I mounted today! Think I'm going to paint the mount black but I'm not sure yet. But the weather has really kept me from getting to drive the truck, it's rained the past 4 days.. Real bumper because I made a few changes that I really want to try out. Hopefully it should clear up soon. |

If you don't mind me asking , what kind of welder do you use? I am building my own replica trophy truck but have yet decided to build a cage or use the large rear plates like everyone else to mount the shocks and tires? I am considering a cheap arc welder off homedepot? Thanks

I don't what exactly what he's using, but I can tell you the arc welder would be the worse option of the types available. A majority of users here solder and braze there tube work, the more professional tig Weld and a few mig weld. An arc would be rather hard with this small Material and leave a bunch of clean up. There is a tools and procedures section here on RCC with a lot of great insight on which systems to use. Hopefully that helps Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk | |

Hmm.... I have brazed before with mapp gas it just wasn't hot enough they have a oxy propane kit at homedepot but I've heard that the oxygen runs out quickly

Not a problem man, sorry I couldn't reply earlier. But to answer your question I'm using a 95s TIG welder. Like RcBro I wouldn't get an arc. If you think you could tackle a cage first go for it, but I would stay start out with the frame version like you said. Then after you get a feel for it you can build a second chassis.

Okay one last question.... If I get a thick enough cage meta Such as 1/8 or 1/4 aluminum rod and reinforce it very well will it still bend since it is aluminum? |

I'm not too sure about aluminum, I haven't messed with that at all. But either way 1/4th would be on the bigger side for a cage. I would just stick with 3/16 steel if you can. Are you trying to weld a cage?
