Buxom Melons is running again! Here she is with 1.9 Pit Bulls on the front and one of the cut n shut TSL's on the rear... this weekends comp will be a great test for the tires. The course is all grippy rock. I also have a VP Hurtz dig installed. I won't use it during comps but I really like it. She is so different from the rig that I spent a year building... it's strange. I actually got kind of depressed last week while working on her. It's just... strange. She's currently running 11/56 with the 55t on 4s. It seems to be a good combo. |

Pretty sure the sadness comes from messing with a proven rig. This dang bug schooled all of us time and time again in comps.

| Re: Buxom Melons: Now Class 2 Yeah, it's awesome that he does quality custom rings... cheap! I still need to get some scale points mounted up. I'm going to need them now that she's running against Neil and his damn 47 scale points MOG! no , it's from limiting her performance I think... I spent all that time getting her dialed in. I could usually predict exactly how she would react to any given situation... and now, we're basically starting over. It was just kind of sad to tear her down after she performed so well through the season... well, the last 5 comps of the season. The good news is beside the trans swap, I haven't made many changes. I did have to shorten the WB but I did it by swapping in Revo rod ends in place of Jato rod ends so it'll be real easy to go back if I want to. |

So how do you feel about the switch from the summit to the Axial/Vp dig tranny and what are your pro's and con's from it... Very cool rig by the way. |

During my Class 3 run, one of Hera's BEC's caught fire and took the front servo with it. So I pulled the servo from Melons so I could keep Hera running. New servos should be here in the next few days from RPP. I did tie for fourth during the comp. I was running the PitBull wheels from the above pic because I had to reglue the cut n shut TSL's. Unfortunately, those wheels are from my mini crawler and didn't have near the weight I needed to keep them planted. I do love the dig though! I'm really not sure what Buxom Melons fate will be. She's really wide for a Class 2. | |

After many failed attempts to mount the TSL's to Mayhem Engineering Double Fatties... I gave up and went back to the Axial wheels they were on. I think when I did all the cutting and shutting, the bead warped a little. I added 9oz to each front wheel and 6oz to each rear. MTHead is cutting me another set of solid rings with the VW logo etched in. I decided to run the shorter black Buxom Melons body with the new shorter wb. I was going to build a Class 1 with the body but... eh. I have an aluminum light bar coming from TopCad in China and a metal Hi-Lift jack from TSS to secure the body... now I just need a metal roof rack and servo winch. I'm seriously considering shorting the chassis. At least I need a new front bumper that doesn't stick out so far... the winch mount is killing my approach angle. It wasn't so bad with the longer wb and larger tires... but now, it's bad. I also want to bring the rear cage in. I think I can if I move it under the rear shock mounts... I'll need a few new holes in the chassis but I think it'll work. And I think I'll need to move the sliders back to their previous position so they help hold the body on. Here's a short video compilation that Die Laughing put together. This was from the last comp of last season... IIRC, I hit one gate on the first run and the 2nd was perfect! |

The new aluminum light bar from TopCad got here from China yesterday. It's really nice and fits the bigger Buxom Melons body ok... too bad I'm not running the body anymore Here's a few shots with the bigger Melons body sitting o. top of Hera... I may need to build an AR60 axle Buxom Melons! I just don't know what the neck I'd do with it! We need more scale classes so I can build more rigs! |
