| Dr.Frank's XR Take II T1E OPS flyweigthed
Hello, a while ago i stop comp crawling and sold my beloved XR Agent. But if you are once infected by the RC crawling virus, you can't go without a MOA. So i start a new build. It'll be slow, but well considered. What chassis should i take now, YTC, T1E... ...okay, i saw the first pictures of the T1E OPS and could not resist. What else should i do. One goal is to meet the 1600g (3.5lbs) mark. I took the best out of several build threads and now it's on me to put it all togehter. First step was getting weight out of the lower and upper links. How to do, quite simple. I took the "Egressor" Ti tube lower link idea and the 3mm "DLux" upper idea together with the OPS. So here is a picture of the result: ...i think that's not the poorest start i made. With the final skid it should be 110g. Detailed pictures of how to do Grade9 Ti hollow lowers will follow. As i said before, this thing will take it's time... ...to be continued Greetings Frank Ah, forgot, i'll run not a 50/50 or 60/40 setup, nop it'll be a 55/45'er Last edited by Dr.Frank; 09-03-2012 at 03:48 AM. |

But I'm just wondering, as a Crawlerkeller Teamdriver that you are, why not the brandnew Crawlerkeller Carbon Chassis? good luck with the lightweight lady

The OPS made some very little progress. Due to a surgery i'm not able to use my machinery, so i made a drawing and a freind did the milling. Milling what? A one piece skid. What, one piece, you copy the Chaotic idea. Yes i did, it's an awesome idea they had and i couldn't do better. For my excuse, it's not a mass product, it's only for me Here are some pics: ...to be continued. Greetings Frank

Great start Frank. I'm looking forward to see what other tricks you pull from your sleeve. Curious about the skid you made. Did you add triangulation to the lowers, or does the t1e setup already include the spacers you have outside of the rod end? |

I ordered the CF plates only and did some 70mm Delrin spacers for the top of the cap and use Axial Aluminum spacers for the rest. 70mm for the shockmounts, 40mm for the upper links. To reach the legal width i use 6mm and 2mm spacers for the uppers and 3mm for the lowers and as you said, this adds some triangulation and helps to let them work smoothly. Greetings Frank

I have the Chaotic skid for this reason. Did you make yours the same width as the original Special Ops skid. The Chaotic skid is narrower which is also good for other reasons. Looking forward to more. |
