I would say a perfect size..
I will order one more when I start to build up the CCC axels with my pitbull chassis,, I only need gears and cvd`s, and links to the chassis (and some time,, can`t get enogh time)
Happy to hear.

I know the time factor lol.

Ok so got a couple hours to work on the rear axle .... again .... and to be honest it was over 10 hours to get this thing right.

So after digging through some old pages and builds I found myself staring at EGRESSor's build in awe. So worth the read and always loved the fabrication he brought to it. I needed something secure for the rear, the tangs held up to the little use I gave them but didnt see any testing on real rocks. I wanted something better. I saw his front spool and the spline trick he did and that was what I wanted.

So here was my attempt .....

It started with this

And this

Then this

That became that

Which when put together gave me this thingy

Well that was the first 6 hours ...... and after a sleep over with some Loctite 648 it turned into this

Well that was a good way to spend a sunday ..... in the cave

So then we went back to the axles ...... 7075 again ..... another 6 hours

Little things I did different though. I chose 6x11 bearings for the lockouts instead of the 5x11 for the hub area. Bigger, more axle material and stronger. Also I left more length to them for two reasons. Longer 4mm screws to hold the hubs and longer hubs so I didnt have to use so many spacers or 3 piece wheels to get my width.

So I went from this ..

To this .....

Original on top - V2 on the bottom ..... you can see the difference.

Now I needed new hubs .....

So how does one put screw holes in a hub? He makes a quick standoff for the center

And a template

Flash back while I got your attention ...... did the paper trick in the housing while I had it apart. Take up a little bit of plastic space. Did it on my old truck, never a problem, figured heh why not.

And that here was my Friday night ........ into Saturday morning

Now on to homeowner work ..... blahhhhh

hope you NEVER have to do this work again,,
that the only thing you need to do with the rear axle from now on is to change bearings a few times pr year..
It was a shitload off work only to get the rig 4,8g lighter..
But the rear axle should be stronger now I belive..
PS,,do you know where I can find a bearing adapter to the vanquish linkmount??
I got the axletops and linkmounts this winter but I only got with one bearing adapter,,
I did not notice this untill yesterday because I have been working on my berg this winter and the xr have been little forgotten

Def a boat load of work lol.

I saw your post in another build ..... I know the piece your talking about but don't know ever of being able to get it separately. You may be able to modify the axle housing to take the big bearing?

Oh theres rock rash now ...... and little changes to be made. The driver on the other hand, well a silence will come over the crowd when he shows up.

Truck was good today, little things I noticed and remembered but its a foundation to build on. Ill have some stunt shots up later. Over all if it was 4 years ago this truck would rock.

I usually make them when someone wants them. I can do a couple up of you need. Did you find the little piece for the Vp upper mount or did you swap over to plastic?

I know the feeling with idle hands. I get bored when the machines are just sitting there. Thats usually when I start trying to think of things to make lol.

It was good though - had a great time with everyone yesterday for my first outing. Cant wait for NENC too - with some more stick time and you going before me every time I could have a chance at a top 50

And i only broke one zip tie yesterday. BC-Brian has some killer zipties if anyone needs one.
