Curious, how's the rear tread pattern working out for you? Would yo do it again? Make a difference if you reversed the pattern?

Downside I feel is it doesnt keep the tires planted on off camber down hills when Im trying to move the front around. The rear feels like the fronts controlling them. The felt like they walk side ways with the front tires on down hills. Hard to explain but I wouldnt do them again this way. Pros do out way the cons though so no sudden changes for rear tires. Hope that helps.

Soooooooooo after 2+ years ......... 8 hours of sleep on my weekend off work ......... I finally got out in the competition world. /sigh/ and oh yeah 2 packs of smokes later the comp was over. Course one - 7 points behind the leader ... *cough* Course two - 7 points behind the leader ... *cough* Course three - ..... *CHOKE* Im not shy to say I just pissed the third course away for myself but I walked away happier then I thought from the day. The truck and everything worked Great. No grenades in my axles and I bound the crap up pretty good at times. Gears held strong .... electronics kept the solder together and the C-Class wheels came out with only scratches. But in typical fashion for me Im moving on from this chassis. Did it work? Absolutely! And I wouldn't hesitate to run it again but I want to focus on my driving and making parts so the chassis project is back burned for a little bit. Tons of chassis's out - Tons of performance benefits - Tons of wins for all of them but I was ultimately happy when I saw a certain one being picked back up. 5th Dimension - Dominator ...... with out dragging it out anymore Ill just say I know what went into this design. It wasn't out yet when I left and I was jealous but happy at the same time when I saw Cboggs was taking up the project. So anyway heres onto the next change for the truck ..... once my links come in this week Little sneakers before I start putting things together Last edited by Robbob; 05-07-2015 at 05:45 AM. |

looking very good,, wide from front to rear this chassis?? I mean the same widht on all spacers,,not like other types that is only wide on the cab,,and little narrower lower.. BTW,, I would have flipped the skid so the long lip is coming out in the front, |

The lower is narrower though, its a 4 piece chassis plus braces. Skids good - first I thought the same but then Chris showed me pics and its good this way. I always run a short front and roll it up anyway but longer back gives me a little more slide area. Less chance of something possibly catch my rear axle. Burned me on our last course this weekend doing just that.

Nice start, can't wait to see how this rig cooks up!! Watching you drive this weekend you would never know you've been out of the game at all! It was great to meet you at Rock Island. Running against guys like you and Winner definitely showed I need some serious wheel time and rig tuning!! See you in 2 weeks |

So a little vacation insomnia I firgure i would dabble a little update to what has changed. So we went from my own creation of a chassis .... must have been those soft foams that helped lug this pig around To a 5th Dimension Dominator chassis ..... little flashback of the weight savings here And bias where I like it Now not being the type of person to hide my fark ups lemme show you how important OD and ID can be. Remember that funky axle? So here was v1 after a drop and hmmm lets see how it works. Ya one spin and tore it right off ........ SOOOOO v2 came out. I went with 5.5mm in the turn down for housing clearance and 6mm on the stub and locker area. Here was the original And round number 2 Heres what was coming out of the truck And heres what went back in Wraith lockouts, pinned delrin hubs ...... bigger bearings and more axle material and less weight. Plus I get back to my width I originally wanted. Yes I did practice on the new axle and its still together, think we might have a keeper in this setup for now. We'll see what Fridays practice brings and photos for sure. So far I must say Im very happy with the 5D chassis. The truck reacted very similar to what I was use to, nice balance through the rift raft with predictability while driving. Ive got a little weight transfer tuning to do but overall Im looking at this to be my come back season chassis. Hopefully once it gos on production we will see more of these chassis's out there. |

Not much of an update but couple pictures. Trucks been working really well with the little practice Im able to squeeze in and the last comp I went to. Learned and saw a lot from the chassis and setup at the last comp. First course I had issues right at gate 1 but held it in and made a little change to the truck. Course 2 and 3 were bears but we battled on. end of the day I took a third which was good for me and my 3 wheel drive truck ..... blew a rear axle and a front tranny 12t gear ....... Ya my driving style hasnt changed much. but trucks back together, susp been tuned a little more, new tires added with a foam change and 6 minutes of practice time ........... Im ready for Sunday Oh and dancing some new wheels ... hey with as many as Ive shipped out lately I figured it would be nice if I had my own set Gotta throw it out to Purp as well - Messaged him and told him my laziness doesnt have time to make tires. Could you do me a set of narrow Voodoos. Hey came through quick on the help and gotta say Im done doing them myself. The seam and match on these were perfect! Thanks man And now off to a wedding ....... on the opposite side of the state and a comp double the distance on the other side of the state .......... if only i could practice as much as Im driving this weekend lol. |

| Re: Robbobs Not reinventing the wheel ........ Ill post up some later of the last comps carnage .... for now I need a nap after driving with my head in my ass on the first course then winning the next two and pulling back to a single digit second place today. Half a bag of sundflower seeds and only a half pack of smokes though so its like a win win for the health department today though. Thanks ........ Snowflakes looked sexy today in three piece cf for sure. |
