After some tests, while power still can flow into it, it doesn't actually conduct anymore, so heat is less. It's even less heat if we do both, but something is better than nothing...

If you can make/find some delrin (or plastic) spring post, or even insulate the spring post. You might get some improvement in this matter.

The posts on most motors using the insulation is anodized, so it doesn't conduct anyways.........

I don't think a delrin one would work so well, as I can't imagine the delrin being strong enough to not bend under the tension of the super heavy springs.

pretty cool stuff! can you list some of the details like weight and no load current of these new ones? i am looking at getting something nice for my trail rig.

"custom" reverse springs you mean old trinity hoods and springs?

why the spring isnsulation? ive never once had a spring get warmer than the endbell in a crawler. slot cars we used to do it all the time cause they would get hot without shunt wires especially.

I didn't measure everything.

Racers Sisu weighed about 150g each. No load amp draw was around 2 amps at 3 volts.

Tedrockz sisu weighed about 155, drew around 2.2 amps

Vapors weigh around 156 or so.

Stubby's Weigh around 130g or so. 30t arms typically can draw around 1.7 amps, 35t around 1.5 amps.

Amp draw varies based on the arm, magnets, etc.

For a trail rig I would look at our new Axle Buster coming out or a Foresaken with cobalts....

Spring insulation just keeps them cool, just like a slot car uses them. Some of the motors get hotter than others, so it just an upgrade some people get for add insurance against the spring losing tension from heat.

Yers is in post 51. I could only take a pic of one though, as they want to hump each other if they even get close.

I went back a page and saw them. I tried to grab a weight of one of these motors and the scale was nearly lifting off of the table.

I really have to stop reading this thread......

Just a question......or 2...

Why are the sisu armature drill balanced? Is it because it so jam packed in the can that there is not much space for the epoxy?

Also there are a few different endbell used on the sisu, what is the benefit of the different endbell (like the reverse spring mod thing)?

They are drill balanced because they already make so much damn torque that gaining a little free rpm by drill balancing works for me, on top of them being heavy enough that I figured why add more weight. They are totally able to balance with epoxy though.

Most sisu have the sagami endbell, but a few I used a modified endbell that weighs less and can fit the reversed hoods easily. They don't work easy on the sagami endbell cause of the brush dampener system....all only temp though, the new endbell design is done. I got some 3d samples printed, fixed a few issues....final samples are coming as we speak, then production will start next month. I was hoping to have some at nats....we will see. They are very light, low profile and use existing hardware....well one version does.

The reverse endbell gets the springs and posts up away from the rocks, while removing the tabs that get hung up on rocks. Most motors I get in for rebuilds are often missing a tab from it getting caught.

What does the reverse end bell or spring do?

I on tabs do you just cut of those two unused ones?

What springs do you use for the reversed setup?
