No exaggeration... Haven't you seen those 25 channel radios.. Gotta take off your shoes and socks to run all the switches. Lol Ok. So I stretch it a bit.. But the point is still the same.. Actually there are no pro comp guys around Nova Scotia that I know of.. Just some fellas with high dollar crawlers making the AX-10's and nightcrawlers look silly.. I love my crawlers when the mood strikes me, but the scale trucks just seem more fun to me.. Just my $0.02 Sent from my highly abused iPhone using Tapatalk |

Wow, you guys make the comp guys sound evil, and rich. I haven't seen that at any events I've been to. I've also seen plenty of scalers that had lots of money sunk into them. I think there's a theme here........ |

I wouldn't say is a $$ issue, becouse I've seen people spending serious money on scale acc. I think is the fun factor, comp is serious if you're in it for real, got to pay atention, scale is more about just hitting the trail, have fun .. |

For me, I came from full sized wheeling. I wanted something that still looked the part but didn't cost me a crazy amount when I broke something and I wouldn't have a problem flopping over on its lid. Also, you don't have to drive 4+ hours to have a place to wheel (at least here). I think the challenge behind wheeling a 1.9 SCX10 is another added thing, at least for me. |

I should mention. I'm a diehard comp crawler. But I always have a full body.

I got in into scaling about 2 1/2 years ago. I had a Rubicon and a D1 Land Rover (both heavily modified) and sold them both. Things just cost way to much anymore and starting a family I could see that I would not have the time and extra money to go on trips and events like I use too. I happen to see the Hilux and Axials rigs on youtube and feel in love. They looked so real and very detailed and I could see this could take the place of my next hobby. I have a good little place at my house that I can run and crawl on for hours instead of driving and spending money on gas and being gone for 5 hours. At night I can tinker on it and I have just as much fun doing that. The only bummer about it though is that I new lots of guys that I could go wheeling with but I couldn't convert any of them over to RC. They don't even have their rigs anymore either. I only have one other guy around that is close that I run with. Like everyone else has said I like that they look real and you can make it look like other 1:1.

I'm new to the crawling thing but I've been racing off-road r/c for a little bit. I think it's all just personal prefference, there are guys out there that think spending anything over $50 for a toy r/c car is dumb but they collect $2500 stamps, different strokes for different folks. I have to say, I love watching the "Captain Serious" or the "I need prozac" dudes at the track. I've seen $350+radios hucked at marshalls, 1/8 nitro rigs "accidently" thrown into the back window of a pick up truck, some near fist fights, it's all comedy. We race/compete with toy cars for bowling trophies, have fun! |

I'm also just looking to get into crawling, and will back out, then jump back towards it. To me, the attraction of scaler rigs is all the cool little upgrades and accesories. I don't have the driving skill to even know the difference in a suspension mod, but know that maybe eventually I will. So the scalers give me instant gratification, and I can mod the suspension later when I know more about the workings.

I think what I like about scalers is what Warpig said...they are all so different and it's not the money that makes them that way. It's the work people put into them. Personally I like both, don't mind putting money into this (my preferred hobby), and I also love building stuff. Life is good | |

I think as long as ur having fun it shouldn't matter what anyone else running. I have a half built leafed hilux thar I put prolly $10 in the rest was trades and that thing is as much is not more fun then the complete custom jeep that dinky and I built and that thing was sick. I also have a xr10 I picked up for $50. It's completely stock and I took it to crawlapolooza and had a blast and was pulling lines that the top guys out there where. I just like my toy trucks and if someone else has some $1000 rig I don't care he can run with me too I know I'm not going to win a lot I just like having fun.
