Any update on the fast-start? It is really bad with my 6" rovers. Here is a video of mine in action. At about :50 you can see my problem. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czolGA8gsv4 |

Nothing has been released yet on the fast start up, but that is the prime focus right now. 1.08 firmware should include both a throttle fix and also throttle curves. After this we are tweaking the build a bit. Also, waterproof ESCs will be available again tomorrow. |

Kennyj, how much wheelspeed do you have? Is the rig geared pretty tall too? That is one helluva fast start.

I have a bunch of wheelspeed. Holmes 45turn motors, 15 tooth front, 14 tooth rear, and 6" rovers. Do you think I will be happy with 1.08 or do I need to gear down?

We will see. Do you have a sidewinder or mamba to test how slow it can go with different controllers? It may be the startup speed of the motors causing it as well. I would be using 12t with those tall tires, personally. |

What esc would have the best start for my set-up? I don't think I want to lose the speed.

Currently, a sidewinder or mamba seems to have the best low end, based on user reports.

Can't help you there. Although it should act the same, I haven't used it enough to say for sure. Hopefully I can get this resolved within about three weeks. |

Tried Kenny's BR with 55 turn lathes instead of the HH 45's.....no difference. I swapped Kenny's BR out for mine and mine is much better than his. Still starts up harder than I would like but way better than his. They are set up identical. I loaned him my BR since he only has the one ESC. I have had my BR on my JPH 37's as well. Both BR's have 1.07 Tried my Sidewinder on the JPH 37's and it is hella smooth. I have some great vid of the differences between the 3 ESC's I will post up. |

Any plans for a brushless version? Looking at the MTroniks G2 Pro but would rather buy yours if you get a brushless waterproof one out. For now, What motor would you recommend with a 2.2 Tuber (Timber Wolf), I want to be able to keep my wheel speed up for Mud and Water. |

| Big problem with br-xl
Today I decided to change the ESC of my traxxass summit and use a BR-XL as ESC. The final point was to use the ESC with the stock motor (for now) on 6S. I installed the ESC and tested it with the motor in hand (no load) on 3S. After I realized that everything was working I installed the motor on the car to make a quick test run on 3S and see the performance. After about 5 ft. the ESC cought fire.... with quite a big flame (about 2 in.). This was on flat ground in my shop so not even under heavy load, and with the stock 775 traxxas motor. I am including some pictures of what the ESC looks like now. I would like to know what has caused this, wasn't this ESC supose to handle the load easily??????? I wouldn't even think what could have happend if I hooked the ESC on 6S.... I also would like to know if this can be repaired under warranty... |

I would get a relatively cheap motor for mud and water. Even a sealed can cheapie would do fine, like a traxxas 27t stinker. Quote:
It should have been just fine, most likely a FET failed in a shorted state and caused the meltdown. Although the waterproof versions have a shorter warranty, I will replace this one with a standard warranty. If you want another waterproof I just ask that you pay for the waterproofing again. Please email me with your info and issue so we can get this taken care of. I will need you to send in the ESC. | |||

Well after reading your reply I was foolish enough to try it again with another BR-XL I had on my comp crawler. I installed it in the summit and tested it in my shop on 3S everything looked fine, so I made the serial cable to try the 6S setup... still everything fine, I made short runs for 15-20 sec at medium throttle and than checked the temp on the ESC to see if it got hot... nothing everything fine. So I decided to go out and test it on the road. Well just 2 runs at full trottle of about 100ft and it cought fire again.... I wasn't fast enough to take the body off to avoid some damage on the chassis. Now I got two burnt ESC and a burnt chassis..... ONE thing is for sure.... the BR-XL WONT handle ONE single 775 motor.... I have to send you back the ESC (both) so you can check what blew and why. Anyhow I won't be installing your ESC on this car anymore, I am sure that any future result will be just the same. BTW I sent a contact email... through your web page to see what I have to do to send them back to you. |
