The Monoprice Mini SLA is a rebranded Wanhao D7 V1.5.
You can check reviews / videos for D7 to get a good idea how the MP Mini SLA works.

With the low cost SLA printers you don't have a cleaning station so you end up dealing with liquid resin and having a place to cure your prints.

However, it is really good the low end of the market is dropping so that a SLA printer is affordable.

Thanks for the info. I think every Monoprice 3D printer is a rebranded Wanhao, right?

I'll definitely check out the review.

And, yes, it's awesome that resin printers are dropping in price!

I printed this for my wife, she collects pigs. For the most part I think it came out fine except for the top of the back and the top of the ear. It also felt rough when running your finger over it as opposed to the rest of it.

What layer height did you use for the print?

0.2mm

I was thinking that it might not have been square on the table so I loaded the gcode in the slicer to look at it. To my surprise the object look very close to what it printer. changed the layer height, number of top layers and it looked pretty much the same. Printed something else & it was fine. I'm going to guess it's the stl file that it the issue.

To make a inward sloped surface, the slicer has to make the layers move in which results in a flat horizontal surface. This effect gets worse towards the top due to the low amount of slope. This is why you get the circular stair step effect.

You can reduce the effects by a using a lower layer height but that will increase the print time. More layers make the steps smaller.

With some slicers like Simplify 3d, the slicer can make the upper layers thinner making a smother print.

The latest version of the Slic3r Prusa edition has layer smoothing that uses variable layer thickness which adjusts the layer thickness based on the slope of the part.

Default 3d Print Troubling Shooting

Found this 3d troubling shooting guide, read through parts of it and looked like some good reference information.

Does anyone dabble in vinyl cutting too?

I picked up a craftwell ecraft a couple years ago. I've had decent results, but it has issues with small details for RC use.

Wifey got a Silhouette Cameo a while back. I can do some things with it. No multilayering or printing colors yet. Anything with a single color I can do.

Hey Whitx, I have a Zing vinyl cutter. I've made some paint mask for RzC and decals for my F150.

Back on topic. I'm with Mike. ZI have better luck with SD card. I need to get Octpi up and running. Soon will have my over engineered enclosure cabinet done.

Been there - not that bad but close. I never leave the machine until the first few layers are down now.

Watched the first few layers without issue, then left for work.

It looks like it FUBARed about 10min after I left.

'preheated' the tip to 280c, pla just boiled off. cleaned up everything a bit and it's back to printing now.

Good job on cleaning the hotend. A lot of people start pulling on the plastic before they have it hot enough and break the wires going to the hot end.

In addition to the camera, you might want to consider a smoke detector above the printer. A plastic ball like that can catch on fire. The one I am using has a strobe that you can see the flashing in the web cam video stream.
