A little late, but merry Christmas and happy new year to you guys too.

Hey Durok, pictures would have been good from your last crawl, having your phone go flat sucks.

Thanks Smog, we are enjoying having some time off, but man it’s been hot for me, too hot to be out much and too dangerous to head out into the bush, everywhere is so dry, everywhere else on fire!

Gotta get stuck in and make a wiper blade spring sway bar for Coopers Ascender, it’s running great otherwise with the Cody boy axles fitted now. Also needs front and rear bumpers and sliders, body is getting a little beat up.....

I don't like it when it's 20 degrees C here. Screw that, I would have to live in a fridge !!

Damn, man - I haven't been in heat near that since my time in the Marine Corps stationed in the Mojave desert!

Miatardo made a custom rear anti-roll bar for his son's F-100 Ascender and threw on a set of white deep-dish RC4WD spoked steel wheels right before that Houston trip, looked and performed great.

Once more, no pics though!

I'll get some next time we crawl, for certain.

Stay away from those fires my friend!

Hello mate, glad to see y'all hanging in there, skies look smokey like when we had all our huge fires past couple summers. Glad you're ok, been sending good thoughts your way!

Oh yeah, that's some hot weather, ouch!

I have seen some footage of the fires. Between that and the 47 Celsius blazing heat, I feel for you. The animals running for their lives must be dropping like flies. I feel for them too.

It’s been -20 celcius up here

Have been at one of the places that have been burnt out for work, the fire was savage, aluminium road signs melted and hanging down like melted plastic, very sad to see the houses that where lost too. The terrain in this area is very rugged sandstone escarpment and gorges as far as the eye can see, all burnt now. Would be impossible to escape in terrain like that, even for most animals. Through the burnt out trees I could see a vehicle trail heading down a ridge, there was a burnt out car at the bottom of the trail, and further down, in the bottom of the gorge was a large farm dam full of water. It looked to me like maybe some locals had fled the fire by car as far as they could and ran down to the dam, I hope they made it.

I didn’t take any pics, it didn’t feel right at the time and I was busy with work....lotsa profession pics online. I will find some from that area and post them up.

Was good to meet some Canadian and American fire fighters too, they were staying in the same motel, shared a beer and a chat with them. They all got a hero’s welcome at the airport when they arrived, TV crews, people giving them a big cheer, thank you guys, the whole nation thanks you!

Here’s a few pics from the area I was at recently. I stole the pics from fb. It will give you an idea of the terrain. I was working right near this road and the historic ‘zig zag railway’

In fact it is so rugged and inaccessible that a colony of pre historic pine tree, believed to be extinct and only exist in fossil records, was discovered growing in one of the little gorges in the 90’s. it’s called the Wollemi pine. I have always wanted the buy one myself but at about $1500 a seedling I’m out! I hope the fire never got to them too!

Wow, yes terrible fires, been watching and reading about all the bush burning, animals and people running for their lives, very sad! Thanks for the update, glad y'all are ok, pictures are wow. Really interesting ancient pine trees too, hope they survive the fires too.

Anyways, cup of good strong black coffee and Vegemite on my sandwich for breakfast here, wishing you all well!

Wowee, those are some gorgeous photos. The Wolemi Pine is neat looking. It stands in stark contrast to the pine trees growing in these parts that is for sure. Forest fire destruction has been the rise here in recent years as well. I find it disconcerting. I am happy to know Canadians are showing up to help out. Many of us certainly take time out of our lives to go enjoy the beauty of your country and hospitality of your people.

Wollomi is a wonderful place, great camping spots in there. The way I see it whatever has burned will grow back greener.

Hi Grifff, yes our bush does tend to grow back nicely after a fire! I need to get myself in to Wollemi and check out those camping spots!
