That they are, I have a Hammer build on a back burner for now! They are VP uprights I had in my parts bin.

Hum, I thought more guys would be interested in info on helping with TT? Nate and I will keep chugging away on it. Any help or input is welcome.

I'm interested in how that straight upper link works. Typically triangelation reduces torque twist. But that's on a 4 link. I can see the idea behind it. Very curious to see how that works for you. I have been tinkering with a few ideas myself. I think you might be on to something.

Looks good but would be better with metal panhard mount flipped around to place frame mounted end outside the frame rails.

Same as what i was thinking. I thought we need eaqual amount of "stickout" of the rod end on both sides of the chassis.

Not sure what I was thinking, but you guys are right! That is the new Werty Made bracket and it is backwards for the application. I'll work on that today before I move on to the front. Thanks for the input!

so like Ernie said last page, he was building and renting this truck lol now its owned by my son!

NEW build thread under new ownership can be found here Renting to own... My son's first ASCENDER!
and we don't have much planned for it mechanically. i mean its a masterpiece as is, if i didn't anyting to it, it would be like using crayons on the mona lisa. ok maybe some weights here and there but not much!
its all going to be cosmetic and my son Andrew is calling the shots! i am just his wrench man, or the Aaron Kaufman to his Richard Rawlins lol but without the nasty breakup.

but I'm VERY happy to see this thread still going as Ernie continues to develop the panhard setup. Ernie, you are one incredible human being. THANK YOU!!!!

Ok, I spent some more time researching and figuring angles and fine tuning clearances and have a little more design to show you bud!

Thanks for the kind words Chris! Looking forward to seeing were Andrew takes his design. Knowing he is a chip off the block, and his dads knack for detail, I know it will be cool.

Going to bore ya all with some more photos of design and fitting!

I have all of the front and rear three link figured out and although everything is tight the only binding I have is the bottom links in the rear, they won't allow for full compression. I will fix that when I get up to Lunsford's for some new titanium links. A couple little bends will fix that.

I'm trying to show the photos so you can see how I did everything. The only custom made piece is the upper single link mount bracket, so most of you could probably do this.

The VP Twin Hammer front upright bored out to slide over the ascender axles. The height works out perfect. Once I had it where I wanted it I drilled and tapped for 3mm screws and secured it to the axle. Of course having my brass axle upgrades makes for a solid fit.

For those of you who don't recognize them, these are the Dlux weighted knuckles. Makes for about 11 oz. of non rotating weight down low.
I used two right side slider/ battery mounts to secure the front and rear upper mounts.

The front upper mount I fabricated.

Now, back to the rear axle. I moved the panhard bar mount to the outside of the frame. ( Werty mount from RPP).

The Twin Hammer upright. Full compression.

Full suspension, links are parallel.

Full compression the links are parallel.

The link mounts for the upper links.

All for now, hope some of you try this!!! I will have more in a few days.

Ernie

Sounds like to much fun! You should get your uprights tomorrow or Thursday.

My goal for today is start on a design for a motor forward mount that will get the motor and down low again. I ordered a Dlux cheeseburger divorce case that he is putting over/under gears in. I wanted to get some more of Erik's products into this build.

I look forward to this, the Dlux trans is one of the few that can make enough gear reduction to work well with the Ascender axles. I have been eyeballing a hamberger for another build with my spare set of Ascender axles (once I get through about 5 other builds ).

X2, I've been wondering about the Dlux tranny and transfer too, wasn't sure if it would have enough reduction for the Ascender, but figure it's the best bet!

Doooo eeeeet!

Erik makes quality parts so I know it will be a good addition to a custom build. And the divorce transfer case will be perfect!

A couple reasons I choose the cheeseburger is it has over under gears and the rear axle is flipped so it will be running in the opposite direction as the front so that will also help with the torque twist!

Ernie

Ok, finished up the motor mount part of the divorce reduction setup.

Checked with a drive shaft to make sure of clearance for the motor before I drilled for bracket mounting.

A shot from the back. The motor and shafts are being used for mock-up for right now. I want to get it a little lower but for now I'm going to go with this height.

The duct tape is there to hold the drive shaft in place for checking clearance.

This body has been rapped up and on the shelf for quite a while waiting for the right build, and I think it will fit the bill nicely for this one.

Maybe some white spokes for wheels?

Thanks for looking!
Ernie

Either those or the silver spokes that would match your silver trim line on the body?

I REALLY like the body, BTW...

Way to dig out the discontinued body! Looks great. White spoke or chrome to add to the vintage look.
