Well I looked at the pdf of the venom creeper assembly manual. Here is a pic. It DOES use grease.

I have heard this before, it could be that the assembly grease is designed to work with the self lubing gears. but hen in theroy, the synthetic stuff i am talking about, should be the same. i just can't imagine not lubing them. it's like a not serviceable bearing....they still need lube.

The grease they give you in the kit is just marine grade red grease as far as i can tell. I am pretty sure it is nothing special or it would say in the manual not to grease with anything other then venom part #....... grease. Might have to email venom to see what they have to say.

let us know what you find out....i would hate to shell a gear case because i was tying not to.......... and I agree, stuff reminds me of that blue wheel bearing grease most bike manufactures want you to use.

Well for grins I emailed venom to see what they say. I am almost 100% positive though that they will say to grease them.

Picking up a nice creeper parts lot. Comes with a couple axles, transmission with dig and dig kit, chassis, wheels and tires, bodies. Should be able to get another comp creeper runnin. I might also make a hummer scaler for my 4yo or 15yo. Woohoo another build! I love building just as much if not more as crawlin!

I have a Fly Sky GT-3B. Not sure how good the click type 3 channel will work but I am going to check if I can do the toggle mod to it.

that kit you bought didnt have the dig on it. it had the remote diff locker kit on it. the trans that he claimed had dig, if you looked closely wasnt long enought and didnt have the linkages to state that it has a dig on it.

There was ALOT of stuff I got that isn't in the pics or list. We talked for like an hour trading stuff and working a deal. Theres a couple other sets of tires an Xl-5 esc the dig stuff and other items. There are also some creeper stuff I dont know about as he is going to go through his stuff and throw everything creeper he has in too. I wanted the body but don't really need it. It sure looks awsome though. I love the way the F650 looks. When I get the stuff here I will go through it and see what I got. Either way I know I got a good deal so I am happy. Also got some Axial light buckets so I dont have to go pick up a set now.

Well I got an email back from Venom. The gears are supposed to be greased. Here is a screen shot of the email I got from them.

OK..a little clarification because some of this goes back to things I have said...the manual does say to grease the gears...it doesnt hurt the gears to do so unless the wrong grease is used...I have run the gears greased and un-greased with equal success...the gears are made from self lubricating polymer...so grease is not really needed...a regular petroleum based grease can harm the gears over time...high quality synthetic grease/lubes are fine...I use white lithium grease without issue in the axles and the trans....I mainly add grease to the shafts in the trans to help the bearings from seizing to the shafts and grease the spacers between the gear sets.
