Default Clampy's gettin a V8..!!!

Thanks again for the kind words guys..!! - Got to do some serious motor work today..

Heres where we last left off........ A tired old Parma Chevy 350, that needed LOTS of work..!!!

Its kinda hard to see in the above picture, but the valve covers had a bit of a curve to them, and look like they belonged on a 1960's Corvette, NOT a one of a kind rock crawler... - The bottom line is I didn't like the look of them at ALL...SO........out came the styrene... ( can ya tell, I LOVE this stuff..!!)

Made my own.... Look just like newer Edelbrocks

MUCH better..!!!

Quick coat of "Chevy Orange" high temp motor paint, and then I started trial fitting parts - water pump, pulleys, belts, alternator, intake, starter, oil filter, dip stick, distributer and wires, fan, etc....

Few more painted details, and wiring the "MSD" distributer.....

I wanted to find a super cool looking air cleaner for Clampy, and all the ones from 1:12 scale models I have just weren't cutting it.., SO I made my own from a small circle cut piece of aluminum, that I filed, and polished to get the "spun aluminum" look, then I also mounted in a custom "K&N" air filter too..!!!

Now its time to trial fit it back into the chassis....it just BARELY clears the shock towers...

Then lets HOPE it clears the hood now........

Geez, NOW thats a tight fit.!! This things turning more into a static model than a useable R/C at the moment, but not to worry, that WILL change soon enough..!!!

She's gettin there, slowly but surely...but theres one thing that I'm still not 100% happy with on this truck so, Its gettin' changed VERY soon.....

Looks awesome Chris, nice job on the motor. What are you going to do for the exhaust headers?

Thanks Man.., First question.., YES Clampy is going to get wheeled.., possibly not quite as hard as some of the others in my fleet, but it will see its fair share of the rocks, and the pictures will tell the tail..!!
Second question..- The battery is going directly under the dash, the esc in the box behind the cab, and the reciever is going under the esc box.. everything will be hidden from view...however theres not alot of space to choose from to hide stuff in this thing..!!!

Honestly, not sure how many hours I have into it.., ALOT I'm sure..!! I try to work on it mostly any time I have the chance to, OR when I get down to the shop.. NO Exo on Clampy, as the 1:1 dosen't have it.., If it did, then so would mine..!!

Thanks Mike - Not sure yet about the headers.. not a whole lot of room with the shock towers in the way, but I will figure something out.., do you have any headers from your Camaro kits your not using..??

Remember me saying in one of my recent posts that there was one thing I wasn't happy with at all the more I looked at the way this build was taking shape....well today all that changed..!!

Here was Clampys problem area.....Before..

Does the hood above look anything like the one pictured on the real truck below..?? It may sound stupid to some, but it was driving me crazy, that even though Clampy is a Toyota, the real 1:1 ISN'T a Hilux cab, SO time to change mine into the real deal........

OOppss...Looks like something fell off......

Nice tight fit..

The next thing that HAD to go in my opinion were the front directional lenses and the "Hilux 4WD" emblems.... If they're not on the real 1:1, then they're not on mine either..!

Before..

After...Nice and smooth

Heres the goal I was going after....

MUCH better, Now just have to do a little bondo work, and call it a day..!!

Chris, I do have some of the parma 350 headers that I am not using, I cant part with the ones from the camaro as I may need them in the future

New hood looks awesome man, keep up the good work. I need to get going on the atomic Toy again... I just sent pay pal for some new axles for it..400$ worth but they are going to make the truck what it needs to be
