Your link says Snopes is left biased which I'd agree with. I don't think they are far left, but they are definitely left and not always 100% factual. You can find biases written into their proof articles.

Nothing wrong with checking the veracity of something. If a friend of mine posts something that sounds pretty outlandish, I'm going to check it out, not run blindly with it.

I was reading an NPR article about Joe Arpaio and someone posted something about how he burned a dog to death in front of the owner and laughed. I'm no fan of Joe Arpaio, but this sounded fishy, so I looked it up. I responded to the comment with a link from Snopes (ahem Jato ) debunking that nonsense.

I was stationed in Phoenix when ol Joe was elected...controversial or not, there was no denying the immediate plummet in crime, what there was in that wonderful open carry western city.

It does say Least Biased. So I can't read...

But the arrow is definitely on the left-biased side. And if you vote in the poll on that page you will see 59.23% of the votes are for one of the left leaning categories.

If votes are what that site is based on then you have to take into account that bias as well.

To be fair, there's absolutely no such thing as an unbiased person or entity.

Everything internet related can be considered a Trojan Horse. Trust is a big thing and you just can't give it to some website.

Everything needs to be double cross checked.

They are a bit left leaning, but they do a pretty fair job otherwise. They avoid a lot of the bad habits that are so prevalent in todays "reporting" of the "news". Plus, they list sources, which is super convenient when you want to fact check the fact checkers.

Nobody is correct or unbiased 100% of the time, but you can tell when they're trying and when they're not.
