Recently did a comp and found the following.
Running my Bully at 4.84lbs with 55/45 bias and soft/medium 5.25.
White Rovers. All wheels are 1"SLW's and narrow inner foams.
The rear gave little traction on side hilling.
Swapped ends on slippery side hill.
The 5.5 soft outer foam feels quite a lot softer than the 5.25 soft foams.

Subsequent testing showed the following.
The soft 5.5 soft foams gave better side traction and also feels softer by the touch installed.
Soft 5.25 showed better tyre side ways deflection but less traction than 5.5 soft.

Conclusion.
Running rig at under 5 lbs and better than 55/45 bias, soft/soft and 5.25/5.5 is the way to go for optimal traction.

2.6KG = 5-pounds 7-ounces

5.25 Double Deuce
Narrow / Soft = Front
Narrow / Med = Rear

I was thinking of 5.5's. What will happen if I use those?
My rig is a comp crawler... We have a lot of small sharp edged rock, a lot of holes to bind the wheel. (not my rig on the pic)

Pitbull Tire Height is 5.25" Tall (roughly) and very wide, yet you want to stuff that tire with a 5.5" tall foam? Why? Especially on a competition 2.2 truck weighing 5.7 pounds?

Just like my signature says:

- Give 20 people the same chassis & axles, & they'll build a crawler 20 different ways. -

It's no different with tires, foams and wheels. Every terrain, crawler, and driving style is different.

The 5.5 inner is taller and uses a taller outer foam compared to the 5.25.
A 5.5 Double Deuce is going to stiffen the overall tire, in your case over stuffing the foam beyond the need of your 5 pound 2.2 comp truck.

Now if you had a 7+ scale truck, then yes, the 5.5 Double Deuce would have been what I suggested because the over stuffing of the tire would have been necessary to compensate for the heavier weight.

Both my 2.2 Pro & 2.2 Sporstman competition trucks use the 5.25 Double Deuce.

On a whim, I tried 5.25 soft/soft on a similar weight ax10 sporty (Rovers). Seems to work well. What do you suppose I've given up with soft rear outers?

Control in the rear. When the weight shifts to the rear on a climb, the soft outer and rear tire will collapse down to the closed cell inner. The tire will feel more like a bias ply (spongy) instead of a radial (controlled & more predictable).

Hey there, just placed an order for some 5.5", but realized I should have went with the 5.25" with tuner's instead.

Fired you off a PM with the details and order number, hope it is easy enough to change the order.

Can't wait to try these out-thank you.

Vanquish 1"/Sedona combo, sorry don't have the weight just yet, rig is still in the work up, but XR w/CF chassis is the short of it.

Thanks again.......

Please use this format when asking for which foams to buy:

Truck Weight RTR?
Truck usage (bashing (fast) or rock crawling (slow)?
What brand manufacture tire, compound, any tire mods?
How wide are the bead locks?

Looking to change the foam set up i am currently running.
Using the stock BC memory foams. Seem to do pretty good so far but know that is going to change once the weather here in the Northwest heads south!! As in rainy and $h!tty!!!

Boss Claws shaved sidewalls with every other row removed.

Width is 0.78" Dlux carbon fiber wheels

We run on some epic mono

but were i practice and have comps on is large riprap boulders.

The pic is a little dramatic, but a rig will get swallowed up in a hole really quick!!!

Was thinking of going 5.25
Front - Narrow/Soft
Rear - Narrow/Medium
