| Re: RC4WDs New Micro Crawler Yes sir. It rides on a portion of the shaft that has a reduced diameter, so I was afraid that it might hang on the brass cartridge bushing. But, the brass bushing is nice and long, so the shaft can't hang up. The shocks run smooth. In fact, one of mine had a draggy white bushing so that one actually runs better |

Great now I need one, but I wonder if a cruiser body is in the works or maybe a mini TF2.

Looking at the pics and descriptions from the early adopters here in the thread, I feel like RC$WD didn't really intend this to be a performer. I feel like this is more like the highly detailed (and expensive) Tamiya display models, just with the option of being functional. I see a lot of these looking pretty on desks and shelves, with the occasional jaunt over some office supplies. I still want one though. How does the motor attach? Think it would be easy to rig a divorced setup? |

It's interesting, because it has the potential to be a performer, right up to the point that they put dinky shocks and a too-small, too fast motor and gear ratio in it. It's *almost* there. That being said, you guys are going to have to help me with motor options and where to find them because I'm new to this kind of r/c and I can't see the classifieds to see if there are applicable motors in there or not... |

Do you have any other micros to compare the motor to? Its hard to judge size in the picture, but it looks like a standard 130 can motor which was also used in xmods & miniZ back in the day. Danally also does custom wound DDT/Predator "big block" motors in that size

Glad the shocks can be sorted easily enough. It's still a bit arthritic looking but it's early days yet. Mine was in London at 2pm today, and I've got a day off tomorrow... |

I have a few Danally "Stroker" motors which are the same size as his big blocks, just a longer can. They are torque kings! Major torque compared to other similar sized motors. And you can have him custom wind them for you. I have a 60t, 80t, and a 90t. For this particular rig though I was thinking of a 110t with castle sidewinder esc, and 3s power. Not having one in my hands to tinker with, I'm really not sure that would fix it, but it's where I would start. Plus I kinda like 3s power. |

I don't know the diameter of the outdrives but I was thinking of even goin so far at to try a Losi micro crawler trans. Got home yestersday and got to look at mine for about 5 minutes then had to watch my kids.

I realize the size of the 180 strokers compared to the 130 big block. I sent him my 180s to experiment on before he made the strokers available. I still have the intial 4 prototypes he wound for me. A 100T, 2 97T, and a 57T for speed and some torque. I forgot the various gauge wires he used. The reason I asked if anyone had a 130 can big block was to compare it in a photo to the RC4WD motor. I have a few strokers, big block and stock Losi size wound motors but don't have the RC4WD yet. Hopefully I'll grab one!

Would a gear reduced motor work? http://m.banggood.com/Orlandoo-OH35P...-p-968516.html |

Oh, one other thing. The manual that came with this is a complete, fully illustrated, step by step assembly manual for the chassis. It really looks like it was made to be a kit at some point. I know that'll make some of you happy |

Good idea Brake Weight - I think that one you linked to will be too small though, even with the reduction. It'll need at least a stock losi size can with reduction box - plenty on fleabay if you look for 16GA gear motors (16mm OD can). It'll probably actually only need 3:1 reduction or something unless you want a creeper. If it is a big block then gear motors are harder to find - 20ga size and so far the only ones I've seen are sold by the 100 on alibaba |

tThe reduction Brake Weight posted looks like the RC4WD winch replacement reduction so I think the RC4WD unit has enough torque to pull some heavy rigs. The truck would probably be slow as hell but have good torque. http://http://store.rc4wd.com/Replac...ch_p_3665.html never mind, final drive is 52 rpm Last edited by cutlaSS; 03-15-2016 at 04:57 PM. |
