never left it- just not an overnight build. I had actually thought of building another trail truck with some scale 60's and 1.9's I could build it literally over night. This scale shinizits takes too damn long! I hope this build is giving some people ideas and help though- it is my first scale build and my first scratch build. L.R. |

this pic shows how close things are lining up- the cowl is damn near perfect for the vents- when I do an opening hood (yes I want to) it will be lined up very well- also the transmission tunnel/ firewall looks like junk right now (even my wife says so! lol) it will be smoothed out with filler and should* be very nice when done. if you heat an exacto knife with a torch and quickly cut the styrene it cuts like butter! BE careful though as you can overdo it real quick! I am still having a good time doing this project, there is just so much that's involved that it takes forever to do even the simplest of things. Probably because I am overly anal. I welcome feedback and what I could do better, or something that would really make it stand out- please let me know what you all think. L.R. |

Great build, lots of details and pics. As for styrene, you can use a straight edge and score it, with a blade. Snap it and it leaves a clean edge. Last edited by Modbug; 10-15-2012 at 01:29 AM. |

Hey I was just thinking (imagine that). that small black o'rings and washers would make cool body mounts!

^ good idea as I was thinking the same thing, except that instead of O-rings (which were my first idea) I find some correct OD rubber hose and make "scale" body mounts! keep em coming! ~ been working on the 1:1 for the last few days. L.R. |

Buddy as scale as your rig is, it really deserves one of the Rc4wd scale engines that you put your electric motor inside. It also has a trans and transfer case on it. I mean come on, You have a steering box. If your rig doesn't need one then nobody's does! Again awesome work! Last edited by Jeepfixer1; 10-15-2012 at 07:46 PM. |

Jeepfixer1, that originally was the plan. However the Tamiya body is too small for that motor to fit properly. Especially with all the scale "stuff" in this build. keep the comments coming. L.R. |

Working on a scale spare tire carrier - got the brackets worked out today while watching the Gators beat the heck out of some cocky chickens. Should have some photos tomorrow of a completed carrier. L.R. |

Mounting the body is proving to be difficult. The rear of the truck will be fairly straight forward I think, but the front of the body not so much. Since everything is so scale I don't have any options to mount the body like a conventional rc car. I had thought about using hood pins like so many broncos use but then I can't have my opening hood later on. I almost have to build up a front grille / radiator support to try and work the body mounts into them. (Which in turn means scale inner fenders) any one have any good easy options or ideas on the matter? L.R. |

Just do it, you know you are going to end up doing an engine bay anyway if you plan on an opening hood |

steering box update- decided to braze the thing on the frame. I got lucky and nothing moved. cleaned up the steering box here- 1:1 having the Ranger vinyl put on- f650 for comparison. lol spare tire carrier brackets~ brass flat stock, steel brake line, bend, cut, braze together! tape on proper locations~ start to bend the brake line- a dollar coin was the circumference I used for the proper bend. GO GATORS! used a brass bearing rod to keep things lined up- used a round file to cut the end of the carrier for a good joint. before brazing. finished product after a bit of filing- still need to put filler inbetween the metal hinges so it is solid. close up~ Just have to mount up the "spare" tire! I have holes for the floor pan done. It can now be mounted down on the chassis via the "body mounts" which have been fabbed up. the spare tire carrier is now holding the correct tire, it looks great! gotta throw out a kudos to RPP and RC4WD for being such quick shippers. got servo, rod ends, parts tree, spare rim, and spare tires inside of 3 days from both. still need to braze and finish up the motor mount, drill hole in radius arm for front shock, build the brackets for the rear shocks (on axles), mount steering servo(under drivers seat), install steering servo and steering wheel on dash, fab front radiator bulkhead/ body mount, paint the frame, shocks, and body, add an add a leaf in the rear. and I still have not made any seats (front or rear) for the truck.
