So I want to replace the SCX radio box with an aluminum (faux) fuel cell. I also want to run a race style filler neck but need help with the fittings. I need to attach it to the box with a barb fitting and to the cage with a filler of some sort.

Anyone have any suggestions? I have the hose and fuel cell but thats it.

How big would the barb fitting need to be? Would something like a small barb fitting like on a windshield washer line work? I believe some of them are around 1/8''.

I bought some 1/4" OD x 1/8" ID clear tubing so ya that would work , off to the auto parts store.

Now for the filler neck part, Hmmm.

You might could use a small nitro rc fuel filter and take it apart and use half of it for the filler, but I don't know if it would look right or not. They do make a few shapes and different colors for them.

I spent a good 30 minutes wandering Ace yesterday and figured out I can make what looks like a barb fitting that will hold the tubing perfectly. I'm going to bolt a
4mm stainless screw from inside the aluminum fuel cell and run a nut on the outside with roughly 8mm of threads for the tubing to slide onto. For the filler neck I may try to rig up someting similar.

The fuel cell looks great, but you can't fab up something that nice and throw a sticker on it. I'm sure you can find something better for the
cap

Ya you are right I may come up with something at work this week.

I was able to work on it all afternoon, thanks Wifey. The chassis is finally done. I fixed all the stuff that bothered me and I think it came out sweet. Next is media blasting and paint. It's got to be done by thursday for a 1:1 wheeling trip.

Here's the chassis final draft if you will

The new front end, I happen to like it much better than the first. though I do need to clearence the winch a bit to better center it. It won't be centered but needs to be closer to center.

It looks awesome!
Cool detail . It's my favorite of your cool collection and the Tube chassis just rules
Wish I had one like it.

Re-assembly pics

undercarriage

Chassis all painted and some new panels cut. In an effort to explore color options I covered the panels with vinyl. Here it is, still need to make some lights and wire the winch.

John at Holmes Hobby was able to fix the BR-XL ESC though I'm not sure how long it'll hold. I shrink wrapped the repair and added some silicone to hopefully keep it happy longer. The FXR currently in the rig will go into my XJ for 3S fun. I will hopefully be able to wire up the winch next.

I've been looking for a driver for this thing for a while but haven't seen anything that would either fit right or looked decent. Then I grabbed my re-release WW2 and I was able to squeeze Wild Willy into the Jeep. He matches the red/white paint scheme great.

How'd you do the dimple die effect? I've been looking for a nice scale way to replicate dimple die holes and make them look consistent. Yours look great. I love the new look on the Jeep.
