Really dig the way you incorperated the rails into the tube chassis! Really looks good all cleaned up. Is there a color scheme planned or did I miss it?

Thanks guys. I'll probably go with silver or black on the chassis and I'm undecided on body paint still. |

Great work brother, I was wondering where this chassis went. Glad to know it's in good hands... |

I need help figuring out what shocks to use. I'm not very familiar with a "droop" setup but, I think that is what I'm going to need. The pictures above show desired ride height. Now, the suspension doesn't compress very far from where it sits at ride height so, when the rig is running.. the suspension will only really need to decompress or extend from where it is in the picture above and then compress back to ride height. Can anyone clarify or explain to me what my ideal setup in this situation would be? Thanks! edit: the lengths I measured (eye to eye) are 3" front and 3.5" rear. That is at ride height where the suspension would be fully compressed. Also, for the kicker.. I'd like a "scale-ish" appearing shock/spring if at all possible. A droop setup or semi droop would work the best for you. You need to have springs on the inside of your shocks between the baffle on the rod and the base of the shock so that the shocks are sucked in. If you don't have springs keeping the shock sucked in, then on hill climbs your front axle will want to "fall" which will cause the front of your truck to lift and potentially flip over backwards. I'm not a big fan of droop, but in some situations it works well. Remember, with your shocks all the way sucked in, your truck won't soak up jump landIngs or bumps at higher speeds, it will bounce more and be more unstable. Hope that helps? Man that rig looks at home on Curries! Nice choices all around. I have to say I kinda miss it....no worries though its in good hands and I hope to see it in the future again. Btw what are the stub wheel locker/nuts that you are using? Anyway...you still have a lot to do lets see her done and running for adequate testing time. |

I would rather droop and belly dragging over sprung any day. they tend to be way more predictable to me. Losi mini-t springs on SCX10 shocks or shocks of the same size. Putting springs inside your shocks will work but you will loose travel and to me they are harder to tune. Maybe thats where the inner spring fails and has an axle "falling out" issue - never had that issue. Losi mini-t springs are cheap and the front and rears are different lengths which also help in the tuning. Just order both front and rear and play with them and your preload collar till your happy with the ride height and the rebound of the shocks. Last edited by doublej; 07-09-2013 at 12:48 AM. |

The wheel nut thingys are made by SDI. Thanks guys. I think I am understanding more now about this suspension style. How about something like this? Custom RED CAP Velvet coated shocks - Super Shafty They say I can get any length I want or I can go with the standard length velvet shocks and get the mini-t spring kits and play around with it. For ordering those shocks I posted above, he wants to know the length eye to eye. Now, I know what the compressed eye to eye measurment at ride height is. 3" front / 3.5" rear. That eye to eye measurment will not allow the suspension to compress any futher..Only droop out. Is that how I want it? I guess I only want the suspension to drop out, if it were to compress any further, the axles & whatnot would just be into the chassis so, I suppose I need to have them hit bump stops at my ride height. Hmm.. I guess I'm still not sure how this setup works. Maybe the little springs on these shocks is throwing me off. Any clarification? |

When you give him the measurement you want...that's the length when the shock is at its "longest". Is that what you're asking?

That does help.. I can just limit where they compress to but, how do I know how much I want them to extend? 1.25"? 1.5"? Probably whatever I think +.25" and then I can just limit them in that direction as well. Hmm
