Good point, the man and the car are in fact one.
Course two was pretty hard due to that gate 7.

I forgot to check that list on the bottom left. Thanks guys.

ARCC Comp 1, Course 3.
It was pretty tame other than the last gate. I spent like 2 minutes before I finally squeezed through it.

ARCC 2.2 SPORTSMAN COURSE3 SZCZERBA - YouTube

Watching the videos, this truck really "snaps" around on the turns. I think it's due to the added caster, Overdrive and underdrive gear set, as well as the 90t spur I run. Gears the truck down to get great torque but just enough wheel speed to get me out of trouble. It's truely a middle of the road setup for me. 50% torque with 50% wheel speed, if that makes sense.

I love it. Your line on gate 6 course two is awesome. I would have almost tried to drive straight through it, then said to myself, "ahahhaa I'm smarter than that"! Of course, that would be followed with a reverse and a turn around. Except instead of taking a brilliant line from the back side of the pile up and over so you can descend through the gate, you can bet I would have tried to climb up and through that gate - probably taking out 2 markers.

Great vids!

That last gate was pretty brutal, it sure proves you little buggy's got some low end grunt.

Seems like middle of the road is where everything ends up anyway.

A handful of reverses AND a rollover?! Holy crap I think I've got a chance...

The courses didn't have any boundaries in the sportsman class. I was driving all over the place.
RolandRockshop took all the videos.

Since switching to the 91 tooth spur and 10t pinion it's got decent low end while still keeping just enough wheel speed to get out of (and into) trouble.

That last gate was horrible. I should have done a better job but didn't and made everyone sit and watch me flop around and reverse for 2 minutes.

Took a dremel to the XR-10 universals. No more "hopping" on full lock. All is smooth now.

While cleaning up the wheels and tires I wanted to check out where the balance point was RTR. Pretty good.

Looking good. Can't wait to see how it does next weekend.

btw: I jumped on the clapped Rovers bandwagon last night. Heading out now to test them out.

AKA CityBlock Evo's (soft) with shaved sedona sidewalls.

Made up some new tires. No internal sanding and no lug cutting, as of now. The Evo's have a smaller step pin lug. No sure if any lug cutting will be needed.

They are just bigger than a khaos-rover and just wider.
Mounted on SLW's with CrawlerInnovation's foams and no weight they are right about 8.5 oz . That is with not internal sanding and no lug cutting. The inside has a criss-cross ribbing.

The shaft collar on my front driveshaft popped off 2 of 4 courses until I finally got it put back on snugly. Had to take repairs. I ended up 3rd, out of 4 sportmans.

Tires worked just as good as the Khaos on the berg comp rig did. This rock is semi-slick with areas of grip and areas of snot-slick.

Running CrawlerInnovation's closed cell 5.5" setup inner foams, narrow.
With CrawlerInnovation's medium outer in rear and soft outers up front. No tuning rings.

That's what everyone was saying. They are bigger but not too much bigger.

They will be great with areas with lots of gaps, like this area. Alot of floating over holes and not getting stuck. They would get hung up on some lower ledges.

If they worked as good as your tuned Khaos/Rover tires and they are uncut or sanded I'd say you just raised your bar, not bad Shane. Your balance looks very good to.

Tires look good
I can see some advantages to the extra width.

I was thinking about internally sanding the fronts a little bit. My truck is about 5lbs 4oz and a little more flex up front could probably help.
I will not be cutting any of the pins. The step pin design actually spaces the lugs pretty good. The top lugs flex already and if I cut the whole step pin off, they would just fold over. Right now they kinda hit each other when the pin gets flexed.

I didn't even have to change hubs. The tires just barely get into the big bore shock bodies at full lock.

So I've been running narrow wheels all the way around, and like the way the rear tracks. Have you tried narrow rears with the wide fronts?
After seeing this build, and the videos of this truck I'm totally impressed, I'm going with some width on the front tires...but keeping the narrow rears
