Hi,

After a long pause, I exit of my hibernation

Last year, I had to start to work one of the particular rims. I had stopped the project because I thought that it were not to accept by the competions rules.

But to the sight of the rims which I currently see, I think that they were can be valid!!

Some pics of the rims… The outer ring is a classic ring to 2.2"

With this system, the rims become again of the rims beadlock. no glue tire...

Perhaps that it would be necessary that I ask the question in the section of the rules…

As long as your wheel face and back ring are 2.2 inches your good to go.

weight is around 35/38g in 2.5mm CF, but I now try in 1.5mm. The new weight is probably around 20g

Be careful ,
It may be very difficult to put the wheel on the rig, if the weight is very big and down

Hi,

Thus I made a case for weight in delrin, the Tungsten cubes of 5g each one.

The case can contain to 17 cubes.

That is to say a maximum weight of almost 90g. I can replace the cubes for foam cubes to precisely adjust the desired weight.

On the margouillat

With rim

I wait the new version of the rims to make the first test

Hi,

This kind of rims can be declined into simple beadlock rims. The glue of tires on the rims carbon is not always practical, in particular as one works on the set-up of foams. It is thus possible to have rims beadlock in carbon, with the addition of 2 ring inside the wheels, the RaxLock

They is thus the 2 carbon rings, with spacers. These spacers can be glue on the rings for facility the assembly of the tire. The surplus of weight is rather tiny, between 8 and 6 grams for one rim.

The advantages of these rings, it is that they are assembled on rims already existing, without any modification.

With tire

The ring comes to grip the tire as on a classical beadlock

The only modification to be made is on the tire, where it is necessary to cut into 4 points the interior lip. This modification does not deteriorate the performance of the tire. This is possible thereafter to glue the tire or to use a classical aluminum beadlock rims.

I tested with my first prototype of rims and the assemblies is very solid, the tire cannot remove from rim. It is an interesting option, inexpensive and simple which is a good alternative to the glue of the tires on the carbon rims.

Very nice!

Similar to what I have done.

The different 2.2 Comp Wheel

From my testing it works, the only problem is that I didn't use the right material, yet!
With CF or G10 I'm sure it will work fine.

Wow Beautiful work, the parts in 3D are very beautiful.
I like the fact that one arrived at exactly the same solution!! To prevent that the part breaks, I added spacers, they prevent that the parts become deformed too much.

I hope to quickly receive the new parts to make the test.

Thanks!
Yes, we arrive at the same solution!!

I like the spacer idea. For sure it will help.
But I think that with G10 or carbon the part would survive, even without the spacer.

Yes, G10 or carbon are more adapted materials.

The problems without spacers it is that you can tighten the unbounded screw, and break the part. With the spacers of 1.5mm, you eliminates this risk and the tires is blocked perfectly.

Exciting designs, the Margouillat AR60 is Amazing. You've consistently broken new design ground in our hobby, that combined with Tomy's talents with CF always makes for an inspirational eye opening build every time.

Hi,

Thanks Stormin2u, I surely repeat myself, but what I like in this discipline, it is that there is still (and always) of new thing to invent. I take as much pleasure to drive than has to bruid my to rig !!

I have something similar on both my 2.2pro and 2.2sporty. I have been running it like this for about a year. I just made a plate for the rcbros weights to lower them into the wheel about 15mm.
