Got the new gmade XDs built and the color is much nicer on my build than the blue kings.

I think the quality is unbelivable for such a low price shock set.

I too have been thinking about picking these (Boom Racing Shock Tower) up. how much does it affect the rigs ability to crawl?

Today, I installed a boom racing steering linkage. It is quite nice to be able to finally use the full steering range. (My old link was straight and hit the pumpkin)

I can't leave well enough alone. I bought my RTR from a guy a month ago with some mild mods. Played with it some, too it apart ordered parts, and might finally have it back together for this weekend.

Broke down front end for rebuild, replace broken axial short shaft, replace vanquish knuckles with ssd, new bushings, and bearings. Was feeling excited until I inspected the servo.

Installed axial sway bar and rebuilt front shocks with dual rate pistons. The sway bar really changes the handling on the bomber and for whatever reason the dual rate pistons were fine off the bomber but when installed were rough in travel, so i finally got to taking em apart and sanding the rim on the piston to get them smooth.

Started to clean it after a day of trailing last weekend...
And setting it up for a big event next month

Also pretty surprised by the amount of sand that still gets stuck inside the chassis

Interesting - which way around did you assemble them? I tried using the dual rate on the front but found the damping too stiff.

With movable part on top, the rears are the same. You could try lighter weight oil

I found that the sway bar is too restrictive for crawling, but works good for bashing. Mine is installed, but disconnected and the links tucked up into the frame.

I feel the long wheelbase is more of an issue than sway bar. I have noticed that when on steep inclines the sway bar keeps front end planted

Swapped out the rear stock King shocks and Boomerang Type I shocks for Powerstroke XTs and 100 mm RC4WD Ultimate Scale Shocks. I saw this setup on another thread and couldn’t resist the extra performance and scale looks. I’m running the default springs on the Powerstrokes (30 wt oil) and using the RC4WDs as dampers only (removed the springs, 2k wt oil). I drilled another hole in the trailing arms to keep the Powerstrokes from colliding with the rear sway bar; not quite parallel with the RC4WDs but hopefully close enough. The conflict with the stick sway bar was worse ...

Very happy with it so far!

Here’s the old setup:

And here’s the new one:

Took it for a couple of workouts on the forest logging trails where the forwarders have brought out timber.

The 14/56 primary gearing worked well with the stock motor on 2S, it didn't get too hot and use of the two-speed transfer gears meant it could make speedy progress.

Battery is a 5300mAh NiMh and lasted about 45 minutes.

The suspension has Axial roll/sway bar at rear with the longer ends on the bar/axle links to increase leverage.
Front shocks have 30wt oil with pistons being six-hole part ZX80033 #5
Rear shocks are stock

The roll/sway bar keeps the rear planted on climbs but I think that, combined with the (now) very compliant front suspension results in tendancy to roll when making an off-camber descent.
Problem is that if I increase the front compression stiffness to reduce this then the ride compliance over ridges is lost.
Starting to see why the U4 trucks run conventional and bypass shocks!

Sure... I use Dupli-Color Adhesion Promoter. First I scuff the plastic with sandpaper then apply three coats of the primer. Followed by your favorite Tamia paint or another brand.. I do two coats with the final paint. It will scuff and scratch just like any other paint, it isn't Bomber proof. LOL!

Thank you very much! Did you had any problems with color/primer filling the holes/threads for the screws?
