Got Stig's decals printed tonight.

Used Testors decal paper and decal bonder (fixative) in our Canon Pixma Pro9000. Old school photo printer I bought years ago. Love it.

Plucked jpg images of the logos from the internet, bumped the dpi up to 500, manipulated and re-sized the images. Bumping up the dpi on the image before resizing is MUCH better than trying to scale down a 90dpi image.

The Alpinestars decals will go on his shoulders, the Simpson decals are for the helmet.

Printed extras because I'm trimming the Alpinestars decals to shape.

After I apply decals I'll shoot flat clear on the body and gloss clear on the helmet.

The Alpinestars decals are .500" wide, the Simpson decals are .310" wide.

Tiny.

Decals on. A little more work on the driver and he'll get clear.

Neal has the skins done. Should have them next week.

This pic is before we added race numbers to the rig. Since I built this here in Hawaii I went with car number 4808. 4 followed by Hawaii's 808 area code. I'm unoriginal like that.

BTW, this is a rough mock-up. My panels are basically Wraith sides, but with the Dynamic Concepts Rubicon hood and Exo roof panel.

The insert shows the Exo roof skin, stock Wraith roof skin, and side panels. I'll skin both the Exo roof and a cut down Wraith roof so I can swap between the two.

You guys will just have to wait to see the hood.

Stoked!

That fuel cell is completely bad a$$. is the bottom hollow for the rear servo to go up in on compression?

Yes, that's the purpose of the cell. To hide the servo, divert your eyes, and add some scale looks.

With the fuel cell being all bright and flashy your eyes are pulled toward the cell instead of the big honkin' servo.

Nothing more than a diversion.

damn.

The whole concept is real nice. Your wiring job is real clean. I liked your explanation for that. That's been keeping me busy - how to get all the electronics under the front hood - and keep the motors wires from getting crunch-n-munched by the spur gear. I've yet to finish my kit, I've been looking for ideas on building a firewall.

Cheers,
Doc

Thanks.

The electrical was/is definitely a challenge - especially when it comes to maintenance. Every time I pull the interior there will be a crap-ton of wiring to contend with.

Got the driver finished. There's now gloss clear on the helmet and flat clear on the body to seal and protect the water slide decals I made.

Days away from being 100% done. FreqE's skins will be the last items to go on.

He's getting there.

I got some work done on the electrical crap today. Haven't slept much lately so it's been hard to focus. I THOUGHT I just had eight switches to wire to devices but when I decided to check Stig's head to make sure it was centered I found that the MPI reversing Y-harness I installed with the Traxxas servo caused Stig's head to move in the opposite direction with the new Hitec 7980s. I reversed the channel when I installed the new servos and kept the reversing Y in Stig. Had to take it out tonight and make a normal Y-harness that feeds Stig with the RX8's BEC and only ground and signal to the 7980. Power for the 7980 comes from a Castle BEC Pro with ground tapped in as well.

All four servos have been centered and EPAs set. Now to get those eight switches, seven LED circuits, two BECs, the ESC, and winch wired in.

And keep the cabling out of the spur gear and driveshafts.

Quick video.

Wiring the MadDogRC dual 4" light bar to the Overkill RC switch panel. The bottom row is on switch 3, top row on switch 4.

Bottom row.

Both.

The front LED bar will be on switch 2, rock lights on switch 5.

Looking great dude.
Good luck with all that wiring.
This is the part of builds I really enjoy, Love soldering en figuring out how to route the wires so that they are neat and out of site.

Thanks, guys.

bmf, I forgot some of it as well. When I flipped the interior pan over to start work again I had to go back through it all and get reacquainted with it all. Definitely easy to get confused under there. I spent a bit of time with a Sharpie and masking tape to label things. Nothing left to do but sort out wire routing and get to soldering...and I'm STILL not looking forward to it. Nor the times where I'll have to go inside the thing. It's BUSY under there.

I picked up a mess of connectors today, but forgot the ONE that would simplify the switch panel wiring. Figures.

Spent tonight wiring up LEDs on the 1.9s. $50 for rock lights AND LEDs. Not the greatest, but it works. Some info on that in my JK Rubi thread in the SCX forum.

Haven't slept, time to crash.
