I just read the entire thread again from start to finish. AMAZING!!!
After seeing this a few weeks ago my mind has been ticking & I've just pulled the trigger on an EXO kit plus extras.

I have enough Wraith spare to start but no spare Wraith cage, at this point it might be an EXO Ultra4. We'll see.
Thanks again for sharing so much & inspiring others to have a crack.

Have you had a chance to work out wheel width for VP wheels & Hubs?

Thanks, man.

Not sure what you mean as far as working out the wheel width. Matching front/rear track?

I'm not too worried about it. Now. I used RC4WD brake discs with hex hubs on the front and used the brake discs with the Hit man hubs on the rear to push the track width out a bit to match the front. It's not 100% the same as the front but it's good enough.

Other than that, sadly, I don't own a single set of VP wheels, but the 2.2 OMFs are definitely on the "want" list.

From the VP page: OMF 2.2 Scale Rockcrawler Buggy Beadlock wheels

Quote:
For a Wraith the OMF 2.2 wheels with a SLW 475 hub will put you about .100 inches wider than stock over all track width.
For a Axial EXO the OMF 2.2 wheels with a SLW 225 will put you about .250 inches wider then the stock overall track width.

I was wondering how to work out the difference in width between the Wraith Axle & the EXO front hub.
Guess I'll just wait till the exo gets here or I'll see if the widthe specs are listed on the Axial website.

I spotted these beauties on the Vanquish page & fell in love with their shinyness

You and me both. I do like the Hitmans though especially after I blacked em out.

Blacked them out?

I couldn't do that. I think the whole reason they look so good is that they're anodized then machined so the recessed areas are black.

Have you beat on that 2spd transmission yet? I'm curious how they'll hold up to the shaft twisting pro 4

I'm building an IFS for 808toys today. He's been running a 4000kV Tekin Pro4 and said he has had to replace the factory RC4WD bearings. He chose Acer ceramic bearings.

Almost everyone that I've built a rig for is running the 3300kV Pro4. 808toys is running the 4000kV, and Special Agent is running an 11-turn Holmes motor on the stock Wraith trans.

808toys is the only one here that's blown bearings.

I've had 2 bearings blow in ax2 trans with 4000kv pro4. Other than that its really fast, that's why JIA is doing ifs mod for me. Well worth the money for the work he puts into his builds.

Hey JIA, how do the factory IFS shafts hold up to a 3300?

Or whats the upgrade? (Sorry if this is a noob question)

It depends on what you do with the rig. If you bind it in the rocks the shafts snap. Just trail riding they hold.. Until VP releases VVD's for the exo your stuck with dog bones or Axial CVD's.. Or, you can go for super beef:

Right now most everyone is running Axial CVDs. DTP is holding out for the Vanquish units and he's currently running the stock dogbones. He's spit out a dogbone a time or two. Not broken, just spit them out.

We're running the slippers cranked on the AX2 transmission. Most times you lose traction at the tires before the CVD shafts will see anything insanely stressful.

The CVDs will be fine as long as you use your head and don't hammer the throttle when you know you're bound up with the slipper cranked as tight as it will go.

Frdtrkguy can prevent breaking the Axial CVDs with a little tightening of the loose nut behind the wheel.

6-hole units are on the way.

In other news...

Servos arrived. Went with Hitec's 7980TH front and rear. 1222 oz./in. of coreless, titanium-geared, unapologetic brute force. Just need to make them fit.

Chris, young_version asked if they came with the Hitec shoehorn. Told him I already have that tool. Hopefully I can put it to better use than I did messing around with those freakin' discs.

That is the combined total torque of both servos?

"Stall Torque (7.4V): 611oz/in. (44kg.cm)" Is what I found, so makes sense.

Sweet.
Alright, just finally finished reading the whole thread.
This build is by far the most KA I've seen.

I have some serious ideas and goals for the Wraith that I am [s]not so[/s] patiently waiting for the USPS to drop off this afternoon.

Stupid Govt employees.... J/K - I'm military too.

Yeah, I rotated the hubs forward for more clearance on the toe link. Been meaning to set it back to neutral, just haven't done it yet.

Too busy building rigs for everyone else.
