Once i get the current orders out, i'll have a few full days to get my manual finished up, a hack kit installation video made, a video made visually and verbally showing how programming works, Probably a few step by step tutorial videos, and if i have time a vr mod vid, bearing mod vid, lipo mod vid, etc. I planned to have these done months ago, but school kinda stole all that free time i had when i first started the gt3b's and had plans for all this. If i so happen to finish all that then i'm going to start working on In-Field Reference cards for all the acronym meaning and menu layout....also start drawing up the trigger assembly and switches in cad to get some delrin or alum ones made to test and hopefully improve.

Also, just a heads up. Here very soon i'm ditching the custom builder. I'll offer only two radios. a basic flashed and a fully featured. I'm getting tired of people throwing fits because there's too long of a wait period or i go a few days past the two week lead. Sp i'm just going to keep one or two of each stocked Standard they'll come with 6ch's flashed, 0.4.1 firmware. I'll also sell rx's too, i'm going to try a large import in from flysky direct, but i haven't heard back from them in well written english yet, just a bunch of mumbling about how their English rep is on event ??? |

| Re: GT3B Hack Question and Answer Thread yes...i'm gonna design them to be about .05" higher. I hope i can get them cut on the laser out of delrin to make them more affordable. But its gonna be a trial and error to try and cut that thick.

Just recieved my radio last week and now just stumbled across this thread. Im building dingo kit now. Is there any reason I should do this upgrade. I will only be using this on the dingo and might add a winch in future. Besides having extra channels would I gain much with the average crawling I will be doing? I plan on doing the bearing and volt regulator mods, and the hack eventually if I decide I need it down the road. |

the stock 3rd channel is 2 position only, meaning you'd have on and off depending on how you set your end point. with the hacked model, you'd have a 3 position switch meaning that you would have a reel out-off-reel in winch. i fear that with the off-on on the stock, you would just end up pulling the truck around on a rope, or having winch drift and burning it up. that's assuming that the winch wants to play nicely with you and left you set the lower end point to 0 and stay there. it may want to reel in still even set at zero, meaning you'd torch it on the first run if you didn't pull the battery fast enough. that and turning servos manually is terrible for them in the long run

or you could pick up HEYOK's little winch controlers..they work on 2 position channels. or a wantAsummit from LK from his website.... 3TP-2P (2-position to 3-True-Position adapter) If you are limited to a 2-position capable radio system and would like 3-True- Position functionality, this is the version you want. Just cycle your switch 1, 2, or 3 times to go to the desired position. Last edited by squatch71; 12-29-2011 at 03:14 PM. |

I still think that for the $$ the firmware kit is a better option if you have a GT3B. it fixes a few issues and adds a bunch of great features. I run the HeyOK 3 position switch with my GT3B

just trying to give options...this way they can decide for themselves what to do...they asked the question on the 2 position, and said he would do the hack down the road.

OR remove the battery tray, solder on a deans, then run a lipo...although the vr mod is high reccomended if you run a lipo
