In short

Go to mixing menu (Long click on epa)
Turn 4ws on and assign it to a channel

Then go into key mapping (Long click REV)
Assign one of the trims (3=ch3 trim or d=d/r switch) to 4ws as NOL and a 100% step
assign a key (c=ch3 button) to 4ws

the trim will give the 3 positions
the button will turn crab on and off

I don't have 0.6.1 memorized yet, if you need step by step lmk and i'll crack up the manual and get you a list of all the abbreviations to click on.

I have frsky parts ordered, i'll be doing testing on them for awhile, but hopefully offer those once i get up and running again.

Advantages is
a very secure link,
high voltage rx's are available,
rx's still decent price ($15-30),
really light rx's are available,
telemetry is possible,
high speed rx's are available (9ms vs the flysky 20ms)
Build quality is alot better

Anyone know where I can pick up a gt3c for a good price besides eBay. Most on eBay are China shops and I've had bad experience with them. I would prefer a Us seller.

I just received my hacked GT3B order#563, here's my initial impressions vs an unmodded one...

1. The bearing upgrade is priceless, feels solid and more expensive, worth holding in your hand.
2. Mr. Losikid did a flawless job opening the radio, you can't even tell the screws were backed out, no marks or scratches anywhere, and everything arrives just as it does from FlySky
3. My old GT3B ran AA's dead so fast I ended up taping an old 4000mah 3s pack to the bottom of it. I had this one on for about an hour last night and it's at 10.6V so looks like there is definitely a substantial improvement in battery life.
4. The wheel foam may be trivial but it's some comfy foam
5. Losikid/Overkill RC has awesome customer service, you will not be disappointed.
6. Programming it however is not intuitive, after perusing through the instructions twice my face melted and I went to bed lol I thought my Futaba 4PL was bad the first day too, now I rip through the menus, I know it'll just take a bit to familiarize myself with the interface.

I'll update as soon as I get it up and running on my TF2...

Glad you like it so far. What firmware is in it? If it's the older firmware (4.x?) there are a lot of templates out there & in this thread.
LosiKid is working on new ones, but I know he is moving soon so his support may get a little slim for a month or so.

hey man. quick question.

does the new firmware do something to battery drain even when its off? before the update i used to be able leave the thing for weeks, if not more than a month and the battery would be fine when turned back on. (even left plugged in)

left it for less than 5 days plugged in, and the battery was completely drained and starting to puff! not cool. but i caught it before anything bad happened. but now i gotta get a new battery.

just wondering if the firmware affects that?

If the power switch is off, the firmware is NOT active.
Maybe the pack just decided to die now.

How do you program this firmware by hand on the radio, after you've put the 6.1 on it??

I've gone to http://www.overkillrc.com/GT3B/GT3B-...NUAL-0.6.1.txt and I'm not sure what I'm looking for to program all the channels.

I will assume it's similar to the earlier firmware versions, thus yes, you program it through the buttons on the TX, no need for a PC.

I had some frsky stuff show up yesterday, and it did indeed work with flysky stuff. Now i got to figure out how to make it easy to install without a $500 desoldering tool. I may have to just offer ti as a service (even though i really dislike working on customer supplied radios)

But, its a nice system. There is a micro 5 ch rx, it is smaller than a quarter, about 1/8" thick, super short antenna, costs $15. Down side is that is requires micro futaba servo connectors, and it doesn't have amazing range (fine for crawlers, but i do't recommend for anything that operates at a distance).

Or get a full size rx, which ranges 4-8 channels, high voltage versions, telemetry versions, fast speed mode (9ms vs 20ms)etc.

I still want todo quite abit of testing, but if your interested speak up.

Losikid, I read a post you will be moving and not sure how much you will do anymore. Will you be coming back to the hacks and modifying the gt3 series? I want to get one for a project but not ready and read you did not have anymore. Just curious I hope ya stay with it. Also if you do stay with it, I am trying to read and find what radio is recommended the "b" or the "c?" I read thr cons and pros on both. Wanted to know your opinion. As you have messed with them a lot. Thanks for any help

Just finished up the hack kit install guide for the GT3C, check it out, put alot of time into it. Also step 10 has intro to programming the radio. works for both the gt3b and gt3c
