Oh and Shinchu I own a golf course so I get to have lots of fun at work. I have lots of decorative rocks around the back side of the pro shop and I bring my 7 year old with me to work everyday when he isn't in school so there are plenty of toys to play with and I'm almost always looking for good help

How you make vaterra slick rock blue spring work with stock shocks. Take stock spring off flip top spring holder install blue spring. They are a little shorter but they are softer too.

Hi guys, been looking through your fantastic mods and bit - very nice! I got one of these myself which I am gradually modifying/sprucing up (I'll upload a couple of pics later).
I do have a quick question/observation and wondered if any of you had the same.
Basically, before I did any mods at all (the usual stuff, losing the rubber tubes on shocks, turning the battery tray supports upside down and shortening drive shaft) I noticed when going forward the truck tends to dip on the left front corner wheel, and when reversing the back right corner (but not so badly).
Now, I have fitted a longish roof rack, which goes from the back of the roof top to the back of the truck - this makes it a bit top heavy, but the problem with the dipping is now a lot more noticeable - it doesn't really affect the running, just annoys me a bit.....
Do you think I have a spongy/faulty shock, or is it something else? I did think about dropping the front left shock down one notch to try to correct it? Just to add, it doesn't swerveto the left or right because of the problem, it just leans (the bodyshell).
Thank you in advance for any help you can spare.

I noticed it a little bit, but that was under hard forward and reverse.

You could try a heavier weight shock oil to see if that will help.

Thanks for the reply. Does yours do it even if you aren't moving - if I put mine down facing away from me, and manually push it down to the left side then it doesn't quite pop back up level - if I do it the right side it seems to pop right back up level.
I think it's going to be a case of taking all 4 shocks off and comparing the 'feel'. If I had to guess I'd say it was that front left shock causing it - I don't really see what else it can be if it does it when stationary?
Just out of interest, what grade shock oil would you recommend, I am a bit of a newb at this I'm afraid!

Oil weight start with 30wt and go from there. Definitely sounds like you leaked some oil out. With the lack of rebound.

Mine well has different shocks now, and different axles. Also soon to be converted to leaf spring in the rear.

Got a bit of work done over the weekend. bobbed it more than I had originally planned but liking the overall look! I need to figure out how to get the body lower on the chassis which may result in the RX and ESC in a tool box in the bed of the truck... Lots of clearance up front once I remove the yota stock bumper. Still pondering that and what color to paint this thing! I will be lenghtening the axial bent links I installed or putting the stock links back in as I appear to have shortened my wheelbase with the bent links as you can see in the second picture which shows the yota body resting on fully stock barrage chassis..... Or maybe just build a whole new barrage for the Yota body!

It's nice to have your own store with a shelf full of Barrages and parts!

Nice work bob.

What kinda of room do you have between the bottom of the cab and chassis? You could make some sort plate mount that looks like cab floor that could pull triple duty, rx and esc mount, body mount and battery mount. That will also keep the weight down low and help keep the COG low too.

I was actually considering the floor of the cab too. The issue is that the motor/diff sticks up pretty high but I could probably mount ESC on one side and RX on the other. I would like to put a driver in this one

Front mount trans and transfer case that would make things easier

Bobbed Yota looks great on this chassis, I agree with Hillbillyrc on keeping weight low. Interior with driver would be sweet too.

Pics of leaf spring setup and details?

It's a rtr setup off a tf2. I got it with hangers, shackles, shackle mounts and leaf Springs (3 leaf pack).

I was just looking at it and to make it work with the rgt (barrage clone) and everest10 axles (scx10 clone) I need to either space the mounts off the chassis ( I think would place stress on the bolts and mounts ) or space a mount inward on the axle (with everest axles only one mount hole on top vs scx10 axle has two. So I would have to make a mount that bolts on top and comes down to the lower link mounts or off the lockouts and across the top. If I do that I might as well make a rear truss. One reason I have been thinking about switching to ottsix tko axles.

Sometimes I can't leave well enough alone, I tore apart my Barrage that once was a H3 clone of my DD and added a scx frame and proline Chevy MT body.

Tried it with 1.55 wheels and tires but they were just to small.

So enter 1.9s

Well took some time to fit up the scx10 rear bumper mount. Took a little more filing then I thought but I got it to fit nice and nothing some paint can't hide.

Let's start at side to side comparison
Right is aluminum scx10 left is stock plastic

Top is stock bottom is scx10

Seems close in the frame

Now to the modified scx10 bumper mount
Had to file the nub off and some of the cross brace to fit the frame.

Fitted in the frame

And all bolted in awaiting a new rear bumper.

A little teaser of leaf spring too.

Enjoy

Your doing great with this build. I was thinking last night of turning the barrage Into almost a wraith. Maybe just use chassis of barrage amd go from there. I'm really wanting a rock bouncer. Found this fascinating lately amd not sure where to start with the build

Thanks, I have lots more in store, next is shock hoops and chassis mounted servo and forward mount motor.

For the shock hoops I believe rear scx10 hoops will work front and rear on the barrage cause of the chassis design.

Moving the transmission in between the the frame rails closers to the front shocks and put a transfer case on the stock skid. That would give you room for a full interior will the stock transmission moved. Like the scx10 guys and others move things around to fit interiors and get more weight in front.

I've been looking in to it and believe it's possible.
