Yeah, I knew it was the same. Being that it's the first thing on Google, I'm surprised you didn't get more hits on Pirate.

Are the front shafts not hanging in there with the o rings? I only ran a few packs though it but never had any problems with the shafts. Just ring and pinions. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2 |

Ok have lockers shims and new case coming. Now jia uses proline shocks which are alot shorter than the shocks on this one. Any advantages to useing the prolines or will i just lose travel by doing so?

A 120-125mm shock will work on the back. | |

Jason what do you recomend for rear for best performance?

Rear of this rig? All of the local guys are running Integy 125mm shocks with 30 weight oil. Stock Integy springs/pistons. Works fine. I've got some 123mm Hot Racing dual-spring shocks here to play with. They were given to me, and I don't have the silver springs to mess with, but overall they have a slightly better build quality than the Integy shocks. With a simple squish test I think the black springs in the HR shocks are too stiff, the lighter silver springs (or maybe a mix of the two) would be better. The black springs are so stiff that they'd really limit travel in the rear when crawling - especially when combined with the sway. If you use them, I think softer springs and a sway would be the way to go with those. Remember, there's not a lot of weight on the back of these rigs. Everything is mounted from the motor/transmission forward. You have to tune these for working under acceleration/at speed/crawling with the amount of power you're running. I can't get away with 30 weight in the less powerful SA rig, the rear would just be too slow. I also don't use a sway bar on the SA rig because it's more of a crawler. It doesn't see the high speeds the IFS rig sees. With the added power/weight transfer I get with the Pro4, this combo works out well. Watch the following video, pay attention to the rear end - especially whole axle travel (not articulation). The stock Integy springs with 30 weight and the sway work very well. Even though the cage wasn't epoxied together and the cage came unpinned at the passenger's side belt line, the rear is under control. When I got it up on two wheels it wasn't due to body roll (you'll be hard-pressed to find any), it was from the Iroks' sidewall rolling under the wheel. With stiffer foams the rear would have just drifted out instead of the sidewall rolling under the wheel and (to use a motorcycle term) high-siding the rig. from Jason Carter on Vimeo. I'm happy with the set-up I'm running. I've asked the other guys if they felt anything needed to be changed in the suspension setup and they're all happy with how the rigs perform. In my opinion a rear sway is mandatory for best overall performance. Without a sway bar in the rear you'll have a lot more torque twist under acceleration, more body roll in the corners, the front won't be forced to work as much in the rocks, and you'll be chasing your shock tune until it drives you crazy. I like the rears but it just seems a little bouncy after a jump and on front just want to go with a metal shock, just me on that one. This is one if the funnest rigs ive ever had.
