How do I know what firmware my pre hacked radio is running?
Im trying to set it up to run dual escs (fxrs) and after following the how to on here it all works but the xr now has clod stall type issues.
I thought it was just me but my bro just hacked his radio to run dual escs and he has clod stall too.
Not saying it IS a radio issue just asking for ideas if it could be somthing we have done wrong.
They are gt3cs
Thanks Nik

Do you understand the purpose of having a radio that can run dual esc's?

At the risk of sounding like a total noob other than control each motor independently no, Ive only ran single esc on my sporty so this is the first dual esc xr.

You can add proportional to one ESC or the other to dial out clod stall, or, just change the rig behavior.

I have a hacked GT3B, I set the proportional "steps" to 5% (the templates show 20% I believe). I usually use one click of propo to make both ESC work together.

NOTE: depending on which dual ESC template you use (locked or momentary) determines on whether or not the propo goes to "0" or "whatever you had" when you come out of dig.

Just want to say thanks to all involved with this project!

Last night I successfully Flashed my Radio with 0.6.1.

I was also able to enable 4WS on my crawler. This Firmware really does make this radio so much better.

Thanks Charlie-III this being my first dual esc after various shafty builds I assumed with dual esc that when driving with equal drive to front and rear it would stay that way not start to stall in the rear on big climbs.
Ive checked out a few moa rigs and now I see that its normal so its all sweet.
I will have to read up on the 5% increment proportional is that in here mine goes by 10%.

No problem, we're all glad to help.

As to the propo percentage, it's a choice when programming for dual ESC's. I tried the default %, but decided the 5% step suited me better.

A question to the more knowledgeable how would you go about boosting the signal strength on my Gt3b ive found this Page How to boost your 2.4Ghz Spektrum/JR Transmitter signal! - DIY Drones and was thinking how you could do the same maybe soldering a new connection on the board in place of the stock aerial I'm wanting to go in to fpv

How much further do you need to go? And with what? I haven't had issues with signal strength or distances. Then again I'm not trying to fly my airplane with it either. For all my on and off-road applications I've had no issues with distance.

Fpv requires distance. Although with an antenna extended up past the body and rx mounted up high, I could get my 1/8 monster truck way past naked eyesight. And with the crawlers, regularly coiling up the antenna around the rx in a balloon is sufficient for as far as is comfortable. Heck even had an antenna break off of an rx board from shoving it into a balloon too many times apparently and no negative issues so far.

With the fpv setup I'm going for I want to drive around my Neighbourhood with buldings and trees in the way and I've figured out the vtx I need (900mhz at 1w) for about a km and I know that my gt3b won't alow me to do it with out some sort of mod and I don't really want to buy a tx either

I remember having that problem. It was a while ago, I'm not sure now how I fixed it, but try loading the ST visual programmer software on you PC first, I think that program will put the file extension .s19 on your computer. Then the computer will recognize that extension.

Hey guys, I am just wondering if it is possible to do throttle/brake mixing on the gt3b radio?
Have a baja with separate throttle and brake servos, and trying to wire it up.

If your radio is hacked to firmware v0.6.1 it has the following feature (quoted from the v0.6.1 manual)

"brake channel (to send brake side of throttle to extra channel)"

http://www.overkillrc.com/GT3X-Firmw...NUAL-0.6.1.txt

  ...
brake channel (to send brake side of throttle to extra channel)
    > choose menu EPOINT and press ENTER-long
    > menu EPOINT will blink
    > select one of mixes... brake channel (8)

When the pre hacked units are sent out what firmware to they have (or how can I find it myself).
With the 10% proportional step can it be set to 5% buy following the same steps but selecting 5. Also can the 3ch be set as an on/off dig instead of momentary or is this not possible with the 3ch trim controlling front and rear momentary dig?
Thanks Nik

It comes with what you selected when you ordered...or can be checked in the global menu.

Yes, it can do what your asking.

And yes, select 5 vs 10

Thanks guys....actually found that bit after posting :P. Was hoping to avoid hacking this one for my last hacked one the 3rd channel wouldn't work on for my kill switch (tried a couple things but didn't work out what needed to be changed).
