Sorry if this has been asked.. but whats a good waterproof brushed esc with drag brake? I wanted to run an AI Runner esc in my scx10 but my friend says I should really look for something with drag brake..?

I will mostly be trail running, not climbing.. and I want something submersible for stream crossings

There is not a reference on the motor. The way I do it is that the 33t is pretty fast on 2s in a losi mini. The 22t is just plain nuts on 2s

They are so small that rebuilding them does not always work. There just isn't much comm material to work with. Generally a new armature and brushes will do it.

To my knowledge my TorqueMaster ESC is the only programmable one with drag brakes. I think rc4wd has one that is waterproof too, not sure which model.

Ever since switching to the 4pk and a dual esc set-up I have noticed that when I dig on a vertical I get a slight rollback on my rear axle.

my setup on my 5.5lb truck:

4pk
HH 40t Epic motors
Dual FXRs
850 mah 3s 45c lipos

I run a "correct" gear mesh front and back. I know that tightening my mesh would probably help some, but is there anything else that I can do? I don't like running a tight gear mesh. This annoying rollback has cost me a few reverse penalties.

Otherwise no change in your setup? Does the drag on the rear activate when you are in neutral throttle? If you dig the front, is the drag letting go on the rear?

Yes, before the 4pk I ran these motors with a punk dig, sidewinder, and a DX3 with no problems. As soon as I switched to the dual set-up, I noticed the rear didn't lock up as well as it used to. I didnt change anything else... I even kept the same motor wires.

Yes the drag does activate when there is neutral throttle and it works very well.

I will dig the front so I can make a breakover and the rear axle will slip a bit. I can also dig the front on flat concrete and the rear axle will slowly follow almost like I have my rear motor turned down to 30-40%. These motors were just rebuilt before Nationals, including cutting the comms and new brushes. I hoped doing that would help the situation but it didn't.

If you have turned your drag down, you will just have to turn it up to prevent the rollbacks.

If it is a motor issue, swapping motors would help you pinpoint that.

Dear John,

I messed up.

I was bashing around w/o a motor guard and I have broken off one of the motor tabs on a 35T TM.

i could get it to work by jamming my knife in there, but once i tried to solder it, the tab broke off, and my motor no worky.

how can i fix this?

So you have the tab on the other side of that brush hood available for soldering?

Yes sir.

I have already soldered the wire there, but the motor still will not go!

its like it gets no power......

based on the tab that broke off, what part of the circuit could be broken?

Your brush could be hanging. If the motor took a whollop that is likely. Maybe the brush hood is bent too.

Must have missed that, sorry.

The 20 or 25t will haul ass on 4s, but it will wear out fast, like needing a comm cut every run. Puller motors are discontinued as of right now, but I have some brushless versions in the works that should be done soon. I also have some samples coming that will be a rebuild of the puller in brushed, but that is likely a few months out.

Thanks. I'll keep my eyes out for the new motors.
