well, did my first mods!!!!! I cut off the lights and upper bar, and flipped it, cut off the back of the cage, and took the sponsor stickers off the doors/fenders Last edited by jimbo74; 10-01-2019 at 01:13 AM. |

Where are you getting the barrel nuts for mounting the wider wheels? RC4WD wheels are too wide to use stock nuts

Yow $20 for a set of barrel nuts. Almost as much as the wheels.

The barrel nuts aren't mass produced by a hardware company making thousands. They just make them in batches with the brass weights. They are actually well made and make a noticeable difference with the brass weights Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk |

The mil stone brass weight adapter widener is $32 so I have found. Coupled with my new rc4wd wheels, my corners are going to be quite heavy

Ah, I don't think I will be using the additional over weights [also, didn't buy any]. I am already nervous of making too much weight for the current powertrain.

Right now I am just going for the barrel nuts. More into the scale appearance in the future than the most performance. Always weary about adding too much rotational mass. I will add the diff cover weights first if I need some.

Honestly as far as durability the extra weight is a non issue. Many people run them without issue and similar micros in the past have had even more weight between brass, brass chassis, and hard bodies. It's not quite as much of a durability issue as the 1/10. IMO the only consideration is adjusting the weight so it handles how you want. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk |

"Rotational mass" is usually a concern with people racing or looking for acceleration or engine performance which is rarely an issue with RC crawlers. However just plain old "mass" is "useful weight" to help keep your tires planted, even if the weight is rotating. Think of it as ballast.

| Re: New Axial scx 24 deadbolt Not sure what you mean… If you’re using the brass kit with the RC4WD stamped wheels. They just need to be drilled out in the center with a 1/8 drillbit. If not, I’m using the stock nuts that came with it to mount them. Check my previous posts for pics. IMO, RC4WD are too wide with the brass addition. Ground clearance issues.

Not using wheel wideners. SCX24 axles appear too short to use stock nuts with RC4wd steelies. I will check the hole diameter and drill as needed. Last edited by scaled; 10-03-2019 at 01:09 PM. | |

They fit just perfect! (still catch the nylon on the nut) If you were worried about losing a nut, I would stick a dab of Loctite blue on there. Sorry I misunderstood initially, those damn Lagunitas got me again last night! And the only reason to drill would be if you were using the wideners. Because of the nut they come with’s OD is too wide. |
