The only other tire that I know of having problems with 'stated size' is the Proline TSL?
We have discussed this multiple times in the last few years, and we keep coming back to "let's keep this as simple as we can". Going off the manufacturer specs is the easiest and most consistent way to do it. I can't see wasting time discussing and voting for something that doesn't matter. I'd much rather concentrate on the future rather than dwell on 2009. I guess my other question is, why does it matter to you? You haven't been involved in scale competition or RC for a couple years.

Again, all I asked for was a simple vote. No matter, an amendment at the local level will work.
I'm going to try and restart a local club now that I have two scalers. If that
doesn't work, who knows, I might show up at some ORCRC events.

You are correct on both, and so I pushed this along into a better worded discussion of mending or fixing the rules to reflect better on scale tires actual size vs mislabeled size.

I support starting clubs

But then you would have to measure each tyre on each truck at tech. Because a tyre might be legal with one foam and illegal with another. What about if you don't vent your tyres? Then the ambient temperature will affect the size of your tyres. You might be legal in the morning when it's colder but become illegal when the temperature rises. What about the gmade air system? Let the air out of your tires for tech and then pump them up for better clearance.

So much simpler going by the manufacturer spec.

Besides if you start measurin the tyres then I believe some popular ones are going to end up illegal.

I posted pics of a mounted and unmounted 2.2 Flatiron.
This has nothing to do with mounted tires. It has to do with what size
the tires actually are, measured, unmounted.

You're digging a deeper hole.

i was in this same discussion in another thread, if the listed spec is what is ruled on, and then going by prolines flawed logic of mislabeling (bigger is better for sales purposes) what is stopping an upstart company from making a 6" tall comp tire and labeling it 5.5" tall. (it says so, so its legal?!?) i understand that measuring individual tires can open a can of worms nobody wants, but, the ruler doesnt lie.. prolines tires dont meet advertised spec. shouldnt the rule be ammended to also reflect something along the lines of "prolines tires are illegal because they are consistently mislabeled for size spec." call the manufacturer on their bullshit and maybe they change it? or add them to the banned tire list til they do..?

If a tire was obviously mislabeled by a manufacturer, it would be dealt with. Proline seems to be the only one that has issues with their tire labeling. Eventually they'll learn. Until then we will continue to use manufacturer specs for tire legality purposes.
Thanks!

Actually it has everything to do with the manufacturers listed size....the actual size doesn't matter, as stated earlier, and it won't change any time soon. Time to find some other Class 2 tires

I would recommend Pitbull tires!

I have a question regarding the -8 (Full) Hardbody points on the scale points sheets...

This is for a Class 3, Full Tube Rock Bouncer.

If the ENTIRE tube chassis is covered in a hand formed, metal body (NOT metal panels bolted between tubes, NOT just a front clip with rear fenders), Does this get the -8 Hard Body Points?

Like all bouncers, it does not resemble a production 1:1 vehicle. But this is Class 3 were talking about here...not a "Street Class".

The way I read the current rule set, "Must resemble a current 1:1" is under the "additional" -4 Custom Body points.

I am helping to run tech at an upcoming SORRCA based event. I need to know from you all how to interpret this as I am competing as well.

I don't need guys all butthurt feeling like I cheated the system here...

Post a photo, that way there is no interpretation of what you have.

Double J, Here it is without the body...Full tuber

Here it is WITH the body....Only tube work that will be seen is the A-Pillar.
Entire structure is covered from front to back in a hand formed aluminum skin. Over the aluminum, I am layering hundreds of copper scales. To give a snake or "Dragon Skin" Effect.

Its almost done...ran out of copper!

Any thoughts on how to score this?

Here's mine....
There are (2) full wraps of metal covering 99% of the tube chassis. If left up to me, I would award -8 for hardbody. BUT....not the -4 for "Custom" as its clearly stated in the SORRCA rules "must resemble a 1:1"

That said, others have voiced their opinion that this whole deal only gets -1 for panels....

I'd hate to see it play out like that....
More scale points could be added by cake decorating, but I don't really want to go down that road if I can avoid it.
